Do crashing waves on the Pacific Northwest ever get old? On a recent trip, all we could do was go around and ask the locals if they realized how beautiful their town is. Fortunately, they do.

Sunrise is a great time of day to walk along the coastline. Amazing land features and so many parts that have eroded from the mainland.

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. It felt like Cape Cod, but in California! I can't wait to go back.

When you get tired of the tourist crowds, the nick back stores and the crowded restaurants, walk down the street to the end of the peninsula and you will have this state park. There are some nice hiking trails where you get amazing views of the coast and the crashing waves. Birds are flying, the occasional sea otter is catching... More

Stunning, absolutely stunning, views of the Pacific Ocean at its bounding, pounding best!! Wherever you stay in the Mendocino area, the Menocino Highlands (which right on the edge of the town) will truly be a memorable visit.

Best time to walk the park is sunrise or sunset... the 360 views are fantastic as is the solitude. You'll find sea lions bobbing around and resting in the sheltered bays the further you walk from town (especially behind the public restrooms)... breathe in the views and the air. Enjoy.

On a visit to the village of Mendocino we decided to walk through a part of this park. It so happens that it was a windy day and the ocean was quite riled up. The waves breaking on the rocks and the wind shearing off the waves made for great viewing. Don't miss it if you are in the area.

The views walking along the headlands are absolutely spectacular. The headlands surround the town and so are very accessible. We walked out to the edge of the headland and saw a collapsed see cave. When the waves came in it made a booming sound. You can also access the beach along the river. There were some people cooking a meal,... More

Was nice to get out and get some outstanding photos. The weather that day was powder blue skies and not a cloud in sight. It was truly picture perfect !!
