While there are significantly fewer options for things to see and do in Kananaskis Country in the winter, there are still lots of things to entertain. Foremost is the Nakiska Ski Resort which offers great family skiing so close to Calgary. A stop in Kananaskis Village is a must. You can spend a little or a lot for a bite... More

There are just too many great to do and say about this piece of heaven in nature. The rivers are amazing for wildlife viewing. Fishing at its best. Hiking that couldn't be more scenic on endless more les of marked trails. The best part of Alberta.

Loved our drive through Kananaskis Valley. Beautiful mountains but not as crazy busy as Banff or Jasper. Just wish we had more time to explore the hiking trails!

We drove Highway 40 thur Kananaskis Valley on 09-06-16 and back thur 8 days later. On the first trip thur saw large black bear near Peter Longheed Visitor Center, and several Big Horn Sheep, including a very large Ram. the mountains were very scenic. On the return trip it had snowed in higher elevations. The new white snow in the... More

For most, the Kananaskis Valley is a scenic place to drive through. It is, but is is so much more. There are a few commercial facilities, like those around Kananaskis Village and Nakiska ski resort, with a sprinkling of shops, restaurants and hotels. Beyond this area, however, are many campgrounds, picnic areas and pull-asides. And for hiking enthusiasts, there are... More

Take your time to enjoy nature at the foothills of the Rockies. Lots of different places to stop and see something totally different from just a few Kms back

Beautiful drive along the valley floor. As this is not a wide valley floor it gives a more feeling as if you are in the alps. Lots fo wildlife, viewing spots along the route. We took the Spray lakes gravel road into Canmore and this was a disappointment. Gravel of course sucks and it was not as scenic as the... More

after noon start in the south and go north from Longview Alberta, it will put the sun behind you and on the massive scenery ahead. Breathtaking turn after turn. take your time, and watch for wildlife, there is lots, and they won't move out of the way September blue sky day with the trees turning makes for awesome pictures.

I love this area. It's so beautiful and it feels like you have it all to yourself. There are amazing lakes and trails. Lots of opportunity for year round activities. It's best if you plan in advance; Kananaskis Outfitters is great! Hwy 40 is a spectacular drive if you're looking for something non-active. You don't have to pay to get... More
