If you love magic this is a must visit
Feb 2020
The first two things you need to know are, there is a strict dress code, and you can only visit by being invited by a member. Once you've found a kind soul to invite you, you choose a dinner time and the doors open at 4:45. You can immediately grab a drink and start exploring. It's $25 per person for the entrance fee which isn't too bad considering you get to see lots of shows. Once you grab a drink you can take it with you into any area and into any show, and there are several bars through out the Castle. There is a parlor where a "ghost" plays any song you can think of on a piano. Pretty fun to do while you wait for a show or dinner. We grabbed a drink and then got in line for the first available show. For the most part the magicians are amateurs and so you shouldn't go in expecting David Blaine. But they are entertaining, especially the comedian magicians. The MOST impressive magicians though are the close up magic guys. They really are impressive. They are sprinkled through out the castle and you can happen on one as you walk around exploring. The best show we saw by far was by a bartender/magician named Nick down in the basement (every time I've gone the basement bar was where I saw the absolutely best magic). He did some card tricks that blew us all away! And he was hilarious to boot. Movie references and constant jokes through out his performance. I could have stayed in the basement the entire time. The other part worth mentioning is the excellence of the food. This was my third visit to The Castle but it had been so long I forgot anything about the food. Maybe it wasn't great before. But it is amazing now. WE had a group of 6 and between us we ordered the filet minion (Milton style which means your steak is topped with crab, asparagus and a cream sauce, so decadent) the beef Wellington, the Australian rack of lamb, tomahawk steak, lobster tail, crab bisque, mushroom soup, and curried cauliflower. Everything was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. My filet was THICK and somehow still cooked perfectly all the way through. Dessert was a flourless chocolate lava cake with berries and that was yummy too. Not the best, but a nice ending to the meal. Overall a fantastic night. A very unique kind of thing to do in LA.

A magical night out!
Feb 2020 • Friends
The Magic Castle is a Hollywood gem! The private club full of magical nostalgia will leave you with a child like delight. When you first walk into the lobby, you will have to say the magic phrase so the secret door opens and lets you into a magical world of wonder and enchantment. The shows change weekly and the food menu changes with the season but the food is always great. The Magic Castle is a private club, so you will need to know a Magician who is a member for an invitation but it’s worth the extra effort. The only downside is there is no photography of any kind allowed inside past the lobby entry but that’s why it’s Hollywood’s best kept secret.

One weird and wonderful place
Feb 2019
We were lucky to get an invite to the castle on a recent LA trip. It’s more a giant mansion with lots of weird little rooms, big rooms, strange passageways and a pretty decent restaurant. Magicians are performing all over, in every nook and cranny. There are a few headliners that you must have tickets for and wait in line to get in to. Even if you never saw one of these shows, however, you’d be very entertained by everything else going on.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION WITH THE GIRLS!
Jan 2020
One of our ladies was turning 60 and we wanted to do something special for her. We kept it a surprise and she was so excited when we pulled up to the Magic Castle. She had never been there. They gave our birthday girl a pin so everyone was saying Happy Birthday to her. They greeted us and told us where to go for the shows, which were so much fun and exciting. I would love to take my grandchildren here; they would love it. We saw a couple of shows and then had a wonderful brunch where they served delicious food like crab, large shrimp, prime rib and so much more. Everything was delicious. They also served mimosa's or just champagne if that is what you wanted. They then brought a dessert with a candle and helped sing Happy Birthday. The service was excellent. After brunch, we saw the final show. One of our girls got to go on stage with the Magician. So much fun!

Sunday Brunch at The Magic Castle
Dec 2019
We had brunch and everything was great. Good service. Dining room was very pretty.
They had bottomless Mimosa for Brunch. Then we got tickets to attend the magic shows. There were 3 different shows. I was there with my daughter and granddaughter. They really had a good time. It was a fun day!

Abracadabra to my wallet!
Dec 2019
Alrighty you've managed to get into the excuslive alluring Magic Castle that only few have had the opprotunity, now this isn't Club 33 but you can get into Nobu Malibu on a Saturday easier than getting into this famed establishment, and why? Just to say you did. A magician friend passed me the famed visitor card and I got away with a same day reservation for 3. The catch! You have to eat DINNER ($$$) you have to order an entree ($$$) you have to wait in 20-30min lines for Magic Shows and while you wait, they push drinks on you harder than the stripclub/comedy club alikes. Drinks? Drinks? Drinks? $$$$$$ I left spending over $160 just for me with an entrance fee not included in dinner. and the FOOD quality, not that impressed. Don't force an entree on me that you see on a cruise ship. It's overrated, try to go for Brunch with the kids, but other than that the crowd is 50+ couples. I had an alright time. Only place to park is VALET$, surprise.

Hidden Gem (if you can get in)
Jan 2019
If you have the opportunity to go here, go! Finding a way in can be challenging as it is not open to the public. If you are not lucky enough to know a magician or a member, the other option would be staying at the hotel. It is worth it, once you step inside it is like you have transported to another world. I myself am not a big fan of magic or magicians, bit once you are inside, you quickly become one. I cannot wait to go again!

Magician Stole My Wife
Nov 2019
My wife and I decided to treat ourselves as our grandchildren are big fans of the film Frozen and recently returned from a family trip to California raving about the amazing experience. Edna and I have visited a few castles in the UK and we wasn't aware that any existed in the United States of America until now. We were a bit hesitant about travelling by plane because on our last long-haul flight I fell asleep in the toilet and upset a few of the other passengers.

We arrived at the Magic Castle a few hours after our flight had landed. It was a lot smaller than the films had advertised, but it still looked very nice anyway. The hotel was beautiful and they were happy to deliver biscuits to my room whenever I asked for them. Unfortunately Edna placed a curfew on me as she wasn't very pleased that she got woken up at 11pm by me asking for more biscuits to be delivered to the room.

The next day we were both tired as it was hard to get comfortable with all the crumbs in the bed and in Edna's hair, but our show didn't start until later that evening anyway, which gave us plenty of time to take a nap. When we went downstairs for the show and proceeded inside, it was clear that the level of service was above and beyond when I was given my own personal tailor that fitted me with a nice suit. I didn't need a tie as I was already wearing my bow-tie that matches my favourite cardigan, but I was starting to see why my grandchildren enjoyed it so much.

Everything had surpassed our expectations up to this point but then it took a turn for the worse. Momentarily I thought it was an elaborate den of thieves as one man tried to steal some lady's watch. Then a bit later during the show, a magician invited my wife on stage with him. It took her ages to get up the steps and I could see some people were checking their watch, but it's only because she hurt herself last year when I tried to wheelie on my motorbike and she fell off so stairs have since become quite challenging for her. We have an Easy Climber stair-lift in our home but she is afraid to use it after I upgraded the motor so that it would ascend the staircase in under 3 seconds.

After Edna had stopped boring the other guests, the magician helped her inside of a closet which I thought was strange. Then after a few minutes, he opened it again and she was gone. I immediately demanded to know what he had done with my wife and security appeared as they could see I was becoming increasingly irate. I made it very clear that I will not be held to ransom, and the kidnapper assured me that she was safe. I sat back down and then a few minutes later he opened the closet again, and then Edna was there again and she appeared to be fine. I wasn't particularly happy with the way that man tried to steal my wife but the rest of the evening was quite pleasant and I was given some complimentary biscuits which more than made up for the ordeal.
