Abbot Kinney is a street full of overpriced shops, really good restaurants (Gjelina), good coffee (Blue Bottle, Tom's) and great people watching. Want ice cream? Head to Salt & Straw. Need a donut fix? Blue Star has lots of exotic and unique flavors. The bar scene leaves much to be desired, but Wabi Sabi is cool. You will find typical... More

if you get to stay near Venice beach, take a bus to browse Abbot Kinney area. It is a long boulevard you can walk along many boutique like shops. There are many local shops that you don't want to miss. If you have a car, simply find a street spot, but weekend it may be challenging. Public Parking costs about... More

Lovely spot - we went there for half afternoon shopping and end up having cocktails and dinner there! Awesome shopping spot and lots of bars and restaurants around! Loved it!

I was surprised that TripAdvisor had Abbott Kinney as an "attraction." It does have very trendy upscale eateries & boutiques but it is a fairly small boulevard adjacent to Venice, Santa Monica & Culver City. A VERY NICE DAY OUT would be to park near Abbot Kinney Blvd. & Venice Blvd. and walk west to the Venice Beach Boardwalk, head... More

Funky to upscale independent shops. Window shop or make a purchase (or, two or three!). I especially liked Tortoise General Store and Burro. The Butcher's Daughter is a neat vegetarian/vegan restaurant there, btw.

Totally original stuff all over this shopping area. Feels like you are discovering something totally new. This is the anti-mall. Fascinating shops, original designers, amazing presentations and retail settings. Interesting food along the way. Loved it.

Great nook for shopping and dinning. In March it was pretty foggy in the afternoon and so it was pretty chilly. Needed a sweater.

It's well worth walking down this street. There are some lovely, upmarket shops and great little eateries.

Love the vibe here! The Burro shopping store is a must look for cards, books, jewelry and basically any cool stuff.

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
