Visiting LA you simply must visit it's most beautiful beach and a famous fun pier. Beneath the pier is a huge parking lot, otherwise it's difficult to find parking in the streets around. The beach is very wide and long and it's fun to walk it even in winter time. The pier, apart of many other similar piers on California... More

Amongst the beach side view points Santa Monica bay is popular because of the Pier ... there are shops and restaurants on the pier. It got chilly in the night with cold breeze. Enjoy the Taco's etc on the pier.

Iconic spot to visit when in LA. Beautiful views of the pacific. Very busy, a must see when in LA. Lots to see and do. Great for people watching. Had so much fun we went almost every day!

We loved the beach, but didn't really hang out on it that much. We went to the Pier and enjoyed the rides! Next time on a warmer day, we will have to go back!

I enjoyed walking on the pier. The original merry go round that was filmed in several movies is here. You can get plenty to eat, drink or desert ice cream, funnel cakes, or churros.

Great place to people watch without venturing too far from downtown LA/Hollywood. Several restaurants/bars to eat at near by. The place does get crowded especially on weekends, but that's pretty much a given anywhere in this town.

Santa Monica is a totally different feel from downtown LA. The vibe is so carefree and we enjoyed our time here so much! Walk the beach, bike the path, have fun on the Santa Monica Pier, get some eats, Rollerblade, walk your dog. There's tons of stuff to do with the beach as your backdrop! Stunning!

Clean sand to have a sun tan, nice walk along the beach, place to rest or work (writing books or thinking about projects).

Got here after dark and with all the lights it was so pretty. There is a lot to see its close to shopping stuff to eat. We got out and walked and walked. The area is clean and safe.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
