It’s hard to imagine visiting Hollywood and not seeing this iconic theater. It brings a sense of realism to all the news real footage from Hollywood that often portrays the theater. Worth going!

I have been here several times and I have always thought of this Hollywood area as the quintessential tourist trap, the Chinese theater being the exception. This is where you get to see the footprints, handprints, and other imprints of famous hollywood celebrities, including all the cast of Harry Potter (important if you have kids/teens). This time, however, we decided that the best way to tour the area was to actually watch a movie in the theater. This is December 2019, the week between Christmas and New Year, where Star Wars IX was released, and my son was eager to watch it. We made the reservations online a couple of days before. We arrived an hour earlier, so we could park properly (there is underground parking in the mall next door, the one that serves the Dolby Theather (where the Academy Awards ceremonies are held). We had plenty of time to look at the footprints of our favorite artists while we waited for our movie to start. Somehow making the visit about the movie, and having these other attractions as side activities made a lot of difference in the overall experience. I would do that again.

We didn't have time to go in to the theatre so unfortunately I can't comment on that, but we really enjoyed looking at all of the Hollywood hand and footprints in what's called The Forecourt of the Stars. Also known as Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the building has such an impressive looking exterior. A must see along Hollywood Boulevard.

The TCL Chinese Theatres Tour is the only tour in Hollywood where you learn the history of cinema from inside and out. The Tour features stories and fun facts from the theatres beginnings to today, ranging from Hollywood premieres, to imprint ceremonies of your favorite celebrities in the Forecourt of the Stars. So walk through the golden doors of this Movie Palace of the Stars on an exclusive 30 minute Walking Tour. A visit to Hollywood is not complete without this stroll through Hollywood movie history. Tickets can be pre purchased but we chose to do it on the day.
