What people are saying
One thing done terribly spoiled otherwise great evening
Aug 2021
This place wouldn’t need to try very hard to earn a 5. Here is what happened: - its the top of a hotel that we were staying in. The check-in staff suggested we try it and told us that hotel guests jump to the top of the waiting list for a table - we went up at 5:30pm, put our names down and sat at the bar. We were told table would be one hour. They tell you this via text (standard message not to be taken seriously, the host later explained) but the host also VERBALLY told us it would be an hour when we first showed up. - at 6:35 we checked and were told we were #6 on the list. How does that happen when we were supposed to be #1 an hour before? Host claimed he didn’t realize we were hotel guests even though my wife said it clearly.. And it didn’t seem to change anything for him. - at 7:15 I checked again and there was no coherent response. He just said we were on the list and there was no real way for him to tell how long it could take…. Remember we were supposedly #1 almost two hours earlier. - at 8:30 the kitchen said last orders, the host was gone and no communication had ever come our way: No apology. No expectation management. Nothing. So they messed up. But what bothered me most was how the host handled it. Unbeknownst to him, we ended up ordering food at the bar, talking to our neighbor at the bar and having a great evening. We typically enjoy eating at the bar anyway. So why am I complaining? Because the host was just not mentally there - anyone who knows their job as a host would: 1. Apologize and made a real effort to fix or at least appear to make an effort 2. Suggest we eat at the bar and pitch that as a good solution. We would have embraced it! 3. A really good host would probably comp a drink too, to reverse the bad feeling, but they need a little authority for that… for 1 and 2 they just need common sense Eating at the bar is great, except when you expect to be moved to a table at any moment. I wonder if host was taking cash to seat other people first….? He was dismissive and irritated by the claim that the hotel prioritized those staying there: “they’re always telling people that and sending them up here” he moaned. Surely a good thing!? Food was good. Crowd was good. View was great. Service (aside from the host) was nothing to complain about or to commend.

Headed west to LB to find a place to eat and enjoy the water. Driving by the we looked up and saw the tables and decided to try “The Rooftop Lounge”.
The menu was not extensive mostly sandwiches but we were pleased with our choices.
Hubby had blackened chicken sandwich that was large served with chips and a large salad. I had tomato soup and grill cheese. It was delicious.
A little pricey $54 for two sandwiches, a beer, and a sprite.
Might go back for the views and a drink but probably won’t eat.

Great view but the food service is slow. They have to bring the food up from the basement to the roof. It took 30 minutes to get ships and salsa. Go for drinks but elsewhere for food.

Our family of four had drinks and snacks here late one afternoon while visiting Laguna Beach. The staffing was short so the service was slow, but the drinks were good and it was a nice experience nonetheless. An added plus was that the valet parking was easy and reasonably priced.

This is our first visit as we normally would go to Las Brisas or the Hotel Laguna (now closed) for an outdoor lunch with a view. We will be back! Not only is the view just beautiful and unimpeded but the food and service are excellent. This place gets very busy so get a reservation so you are not disappointed!

Even on Sunday afternoon before dinnertime it was difficult getting a table at this popular place. But boy were we glad we stayed! My wife and I got to watch the sunset while eating the best coconut shrimp we've ever had. Our servers did a good job and were very helpful and were definitely overworked. We will definitely come back to this great bar every time we're in Laguna!

Let's start with the amazing view.. food is alright.. small plates, not bad. But drinks, served in a plastic "glass" not so great. Their Margaritas were just sold mixer and nothing fresh about it. I changed my drink to a Mojito, much better. It was nice to spend time there for my b-day.. The servers were super friendly.. which was a plus.. one more negative thought.. first come first serve seating..

Went out for our weekly adventure and stopped here for Brunch... The view is magical.. The food was good... My wife had mimosas and bacon wrapped dates and brie... I in turn had the biscuits and gravy... The only down side was my eggs were undercooked and no one was around to check on us...... But overall a good experience.

I'll leave it up for the readers to make of it on the headline. The view is phenomenal. Even on a cold night the heater lamps warm things up. Again, just here for a drink of whiskey.
