You can "power walk" around the reservoir, have a picnic with family and friends, and there is a playground for children. That's fine and thousands do. But, it could be much more. The reservoir discourages and prohibits music in the park, except for a very few...More

Went to Lafayette reservoir on a day trip with my wife and daughters. The walking path around the reservoir is a very nice walk. The reservoir itself is a gem in a hidden location of Lafayette. Next time I am up here I will definitely...More

It's hard to believe that a reservoir can offer so much. Whether you bike, run or walk the 4+ miles around the reservoir offer spectacular scenery - although a bit crowded on the weekends. There's a great playground for the children, beautiful places to picnic,...More

I have been going here for about 20 years. Quite beautiful!. Wild and forested. Hilly-and dale-y, in many areas. The most obvious draw is the walking-running trail around the lake-fairly flat. It's about 10-ft wide and paved, about 3 miles around. Then there's an upper...More

The paved lower trail is great for wet weather. Leave the upper trail for dry times as is becomes difficult when wet.

I used to work in Lafayette about 10 years ago. I would go to the reservoir on my lunch hour - parking was free metered - not crowded and pretty nice for a suburban "nature" area. Since then I have moved to the mountains and...More

I love walking the Reservoir. It has mild hills with both sun and shade. Restrooms are around the trail if needed as well as water fountains. Dogs are allowed on leash.

We’ve been walking around the Lafayette Reservoir for over 30 years, and of all the places in central County to go to for a hike/walk, its still our favorite. The annual pass is a bargain, even more so with a senior discount now. The play...More

Quick “hike” but a decent workout. Easy for beginners. There are a few Bathrooms around which is nice and you have to pay for parking.

The Lafayette Reservoir is a favorite place of mine. You can take the paved trail around the reservoir or branch off into the rim trail for a more adventurous climb. The trail itself takes about an hour at a leisurely pace. It has a nice...More

If you are not a member of the park you can use the parking meters. I think it cost about $1.50 for an hour, maybe less. The park is very safe. You can walk on the paved part around the lake. It is a popular hike and there... More

I have never seen any catered events there--all picnic & BBQ's. BIg picnics, like school picnics or company picnics do bring in pre-prepared food, but I have always seen those containers brought in by someone involved in... More
