This veterans memorial is a beautiful tribute on a hill high above La Jolla with gorgeous views in every direction. Most tributes have photographs and little vignettes that bring the memories of these dedicated citizens to life. How incredibly sad that they lost their lives for our country. Most of the tributes show religious symbols- like crosses or Jewish stars... More

This was one of the more unusual venues I've seen. At the top of Mt. Soledad, there is a memorial to our armed services. It is reverent and easy to navigate after driving to the top of the mountain. What is moving is the respect shown our military. There are a variety of military men and women remembered from enlisted... More

This place is tricky to find, you need GPS of some sort if you are driving, we used google maps app. Despite efforts by some groups to have the cross removed it still stands and is an incredibly moving place to visit with the views and the Veterans memorials all around.

The memorial itself doesn't take long to see. The cross is the center point with beautifully engraved names and pictures of veterans. The views from there are gorgeous. It s a great memorial to our veterans, but if you are short on time, I would skip it.

Some nice hikes up her on winding streets with the full range of SoCal architecture. But also a good place to park day or night and take in the views from Coronados and TJ to the south to Dana Point in the north.

Such amazing views of San Diego. The memorial is also very nice. Our tour guide pointed out several well known individuals on the memorial.

Best way to get your bearings on what's what in San Diego. Terrific views of the coast to the north, Torrey Pines Golf Course, UCSD campus, Miramar Air Station, mountains to the east, downtown, Mexico in the distance, San Diego Bay, Mission Bay and the Coronado Islands. While you're there, take a close look at the plaques honoring veterans of... More

I take any new visitor as a first stop to Mt Soledad. From here You get to see a panoramic view of San Diego from the east to the south west. It is a good place to get your bearings prior to traveling around the area.
