Arrive early on the weekends because beach gets packed. Remember to always swim with a buddy and try to swim away from the beach. Amazing assortment of sealife from seals to garabaldi to whatever that was.

Hard as hell to get a parking spot but worth the effort. This is a gorgeous slice of SoCal coast that also just so happens to be a birthing area for sea lions and harbour seals and sea birds. For anyone interested in nature shots,...More

I participated in an organized kayaking tour. The kayaking was easy and relaxed (thus many can do it), and the experience was wonderful -- especially because of the animals we were able to see close-by.

Although it can be hard to park, you can drive a long way along the coast line and then get out and walk. The city has done a good job of turning the walkway into a parklike atmosphere on the cliffs above the Cove. Be...More

Great place! You can spend there couple hours or few minutes. Definitely worth a stop, if you are in this area. We took great pictures of sea lions. Parking may be a problem, but it is available.

Go down to the sea lions but keep your distance out of respect. Yes, it’s a bit smelly but it’s nature! Don’t be such a city slicker. Perfect place to see these amazing creatures in their natural habitat.

Great place to get reacquainted with nature. Lots of walking. Wear sneakers and bring a jacket it gets a little cold.

We went for an evening walk along La Jolla Cove and it was a great experience...and it was free! We saw seals up close, walked along the water and into Little Rock caves. I’d definitely recommend this for a nice hour long evening walk, after...More

A definite must when you’re in the area. We enjoyed watching the sea lions frolic all afternoon. Amazing that you can get so close to them although some people were getting a little too close! Very much enjoyed our time here and beautiful views of...More

There are areas open to Pet’s. You will have lots of company. Some of the Preserve areas are off limits but those are limited. Bring your dogs.
