Rather crowed on Sunday but that adds to the buzz of the place. The jams here are popular with quite a few shops. There's a tourist information centre there if you need help.

This is the "destination" that continues to attract visitors. Boutique shops, galleries, and restaurants abound. Packed with tourists during the summer and holidays seasons. A pleasant walk to and from the JR Shinkansen Station.

Shopping street with small traditional shops and eatery at the center of the town. Good to stroll around, finished in half day.

A pedestrian street with lots of shops, a mix of tourist shops and some local type shops. An OK distraction for an hour but don't make a special trip.

About 400 meters in length, with a good variety of shops, almost on par with that of the shopping street in Yufuin. My favorite was the lace shop, the bikers shop, and the food shop that sold hams and bacons. One annoyance was that this...More

Feels a lot like Banff. If you have a couple hours to kill in Karuizawa, it's a charming town for a stroll. It's quiet at least, lots of frogs and birds. But I wouldn't make a special trip here. There are nicer places to visit...More
