The Shiraito Falls is a must place to visit if you come to Karuizawa. It is not your usual waterfall and has an unusual ambience from the unique natural cascading water feature. Definitely very beautiful and excellent backdrop for couple having their photos taken. We were there in the early part of the morning and there was not many visitors... More

This is your quiet kind of waterfall. It's not majestic because it comes from underground water rather than a river or any other sort of flowing water. But the place itself is very peaceful and there are stairs to get to high spots of the surrounding hills. Just be very quiet if you do decide to take the hike as... More

A quick (but expensive: 710¥ one way!) bus ride up from Karuizawa station you find this beautiful water wonder in the middle of the forest, 150 flat meters from the stop, where there are also some shops. We came mid-November, and the fallen leaves have it a special touch. Touristy but not too crowded, at least on a Tuesday PM.... More

Maybe I had high expectations for the falls given it is one of the main things people come to see in Karuizawa (at least in autumn). I was slightly underwhelmed, and it reminded me of the manmade cascade you see in the lobby of office buildings. It was nice to walk around and the falls are very close to the... More

To come here you must pay and entrance fee 400yen if you come back through the same entrance you came from or 600 yen if you go through the opposite exit. however once inside you dont have to pay for parking and there are public bathrooms for free also many stores where you can buy food and snacks. the falls... I have never seen anything like this before. This is not a roaring cascade of water fall down a steep rocky slope but water seeps out from a crack of a cliff. It was hard for me to believe it wasn't man-made when I first saw it. You can get there by taking a local bus from train station. The... More

I've seen quite a few impressive waterfalls in my day and while shiraito taki does not overwhelm you with power, it is extremely beautiful and tranquil. There are actually two waterfalls in the area and lines of smal shops as you walk down to the main attraction. From fujinomiya station, you can take a local bus for less than 500... More

First, we went through Karuizawa station, then took the bus to the Shiraito Falls, its a great place to see the 3 meters hight waterfalls and width of 70 meters. If you got the chance to visit Japan and visit Karuizawa its must to visit this wonderful place.

Made a quick stop here without plans to do so, and we were so glad we did. Beautiful falls, with a unique look because the water seeps out if the rock, it's not a river spilling over. It's busy but people are very polite. Good street food on the road nearby, too.

It's nice beautiful quiet place. The fall is not big so it is right in fount of you. Suggest you take the local bus and go up directly. Then you can take a return bus and stop over at old town (Ginza street) or other down town attractions.

Thank Yvonne W
