The best outdoor museum we've ever visited. This place appeals most to Japanese history buffs and architecture zealots, but it is located on a beautiful hillside spot overlooking a manmade lake and on a nice day it makes for just a nice garden stroll, even...More

You can see about 60 architectures in the era of Meiji era. This village has lots of paths shaded by trees on which you can get around easily. It'll take half a day to walk around.

We were there on weekday, not crowded. Some students were there for field trip. We spent half day there, not enough. The place is huge! Well-preserved buildings from the Meiji-period were moved and reconstructed there. If you love historical/architectural buildings, you will love this place....More
