Fun walk

Walked along the top of the wall with my family and friend. Do this in the morning before it gets to hot. It was cool to see the houses. Most of what I have seen in China seems to... read more

Really well preserved wall. Easy to walk, not very tiring. Great views! This wall is surrounding the ancient city of Ping yao. We stayed at the "Jing's residence" in ping yao... a really special and charming hotel really recommendable!!

We loved our walk along this wall. Yes, it has been restored in one or two places, but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment. From the wall you get a great view of the maze of streets in the old city.

Wonderful. The wall is well maintained and loved by loc people. The walk along the top is spectacular. Its a must visit and the only original intact old wall in China.

If you are in Pingyao I would definitely recommend to have a walk on the wall. It's not crowded, even all streets are packed...

The walls in Xian were much nicer so if you are only going to do one do them in Xian. On the plus side the ticket for the walls is the entrance for everything in the ancient town and is valid for 2-3 days.

It's just over 6km around the wall and worth a stroll. The eastern section seemed to be closed off when I visited, so maybe go up at the South Gate and walk round the western half to the North Gate. The views are great from up ther, looking across the old town. Be aware that the 3-day ticket only allows... More

For safety reasons and because work is being done on the wall you can't walk the wall in it's entire length. It is split in different compartments that you can walk. Actually I was hesitating to disobey the warning because I didn't see any danger where the sign ordered me to go down. But because the wall doesn't go in... More

Quite expensive to go up, and it only applies once, so you can't go back up again. Apart from the small buildings and such at the entrance to the wall, there is not much else, apart from small clay designs in each parapet at a turn in the wall. There are no barriers on the side to protect you from... More
