A quiet temple with few people vs. the crowded streets outside its perimeter. We enjoyed delving deeper into the beliefs of confucianism.

If you visit the wall of the city and low through the door this arrived directly at the main entrance of the Temple of Confucius, beautiful spaces where reside several fairly new buildings with new images also, and shops of souvenirs and sweets.

I am not an expert in confucianism. But this old temple in the heart of Pingyao is really worth visiting by its architecture and the spirituality that still stems from it. We did not take a guide to visit it but I would recommend doing...More

I would have rated it a 5 if it wasn't spoiled by advertising and people selling food and drinks there. It was charming, colourful, I intersting and had fantastic views over the ancient city and beyond. Loved it!

This nice temple should be more carefully kept! But the houses are nice. There's a big bell in the southern entrance which can bring you luck if you pay a Y or something!

People give you incense, then you have to pray, come to a table, are blessed, and have to write down your name and donate money which they didn't ask beforehand... A sad introduction to Taoism....

You can access the temple as you come off the city wall on the south side. If you haven't been to a Confucius temple or have the time, you should go.

Worth a visit while you are touring Pingyao. Need about 45mins - 1 hour there max. City God temple is also close by, so do the 2 together.
