The hike was a bit moderate as it's uphill, but the views were spectacular! Well worth the hike! Bring lots of water and be prepared for a bit of climate change.

Started about 10:30 and did the 5 oaks trail up, then hiked to the summit. We took our time and reached it in just over 2 hours. Had a nice picnic lunch there and relaxed before heading back down the mountain. We took the main...More

Our seven-year old enjoyed his first hike here, and the broad trail and informative signs made it a wonderful introductory hike.

The town in Julian is small...I've been up there beginning of the week and end of the week on Veterans day. The views are gorgeous either way.... But Julian was quiet and almost a ghost town beginning of the week as opposed to end of...More

Sweet little town, we'll worth the trip out of the city. Two things you do not want to miss Warm Hearth and Julian Pies.

I would recommend this hike on milder days as you will be in the sun some. Take water and watch for poison oak. I went in early May - lots of wildflowers and the views were breathtaking!

The directions on the official website are not right near the end - they send you up a dead end. Follow Farmer road out of Julian, turn right then left as per their website, but then you need to park almost immediately on the roadside...More

Watch out for the altitude, lots of moderate to difficult climbing, some easy; one split-off trail, great views, pack lots of water/food; Beautiful scenery, peaceful. Saw hawks, lots of birds, oaks. Ends at top, historic area of previous potential observatory telescope site.

It depends if your dog is use to long hikes and steep hills. The trail starts off in a long and windy incline but once towards the top it's so beautiful! Tthere's plenty of shade and spots to relax, be sure to bring plenty... More
