We visited on a very hot summer day. Fortunately, on the depot platform, they had misters spraying. The staff all wore period costumes which were delightful. We ended up riding the steam train at a cost of $15 per adult. It was a 45-minute ride...More

If you are a train lover then this place is for you. I took some pics and enjoyed with family. Go for it but do not expect a lot, you might get a train ride on week end as well

We were passing through the area on our way to Groveland/Yosemite, and decided to stop and check out Railtown 1897. It was a hot late afternoon, so we didn't spend a lot of time at the park. We checked out the displays, walked around the...More

We had so much fun relaxing on the train ride through the rolling hills of Jamestown. The train was well-maintained and the length of the ride was perfect.

Traveling from No. Calif. to Yosemite via hwy 120? It's worth the time to make a slight detour and streach your legs here. Hundreds of films and t.v. shows shot right here, using these historic rail cars. Railway rides on the weekends. Visit their site...More

Lots of docents in costume leading tours, serving on steam train ride. Fascinating history of Gold Rush era trains and their later use in the movies. Great bookstore with works by historians, not just "gift shop memorabilia." Very enjoyable visit.

I visited Railtown 1897 State Historic Park with a friend on Easter Sunday. They were holding Easter Egg Hunts with the Easter Bunny, so the place was understandably quite full with families and children. We expected to take a quick walk around the park, and...More

No food sold in the park. They do have picnic tables, so bring sandwiches or stop at a local deli. There is a cute older couple that sells popcorn.

A wheelchair will be challenging but the staff is very friendly and should be able to help accommodate. The ground is uneven and there is some gravel. I would recommend calling ahead to see if there are other accommodations... More
