There is a lot to explore here. Where to start? Maybe you should just go down and see for yourself. Depending on your level of endurance, you could turn this into a pretty substantial little hike, doing a loop up and around the perimeter of the wetlands, or you can just settle near one of the parking lots and sit... I came here with a group of photographers and had a really nice time. There are all kinds of birds to shoot. With a camera, not a gun of course. lol. Just make sure if you are a photographer you bring a good, long, fast lens and a mono-pod. Something in the 400-600 mm range. The wetlands are quite large... More

So near but so far from the City ambiance, This is the real treat of the wetlands to the residents of Huntington Beach. A place for rest , peace, purification and calm where anyone can step into nature again and enjoy basic-life the way it meant to-be.

Large wildlife sanctuary mostly for migrating and indigent birds. Nature for Huntington Beach naturalists.

The wetlands and marsh areas were beautiful. Hiking allows to see water fowl, turtles, and fish. It is great exercise and a great way to be one with the surrounding nature. Highly recommended.

This place is free, has plenty of free parking and has a great nature walk. You see many types of birds, even some owls (if you are lucky). There are docents on hand to answer questions regarding the flora/fauna, birds and animals around the area.

We rode our bikes from Huntington Beach pier to the Warner Street entrance to the wetlands. The only regret is that bike riding through the wetlands is prohibited. A bike path would have allowed us to more fully experience the wetlands.

The best thing I enjoy here is the great walking path through the wetlands. It's so tranquil. Don't be surprise if one of the amazing hawks fly right over your head. If you look real close you can also see some small orange crabs in the water right next to the wooden bridge.

Go & see alot more than sand! and enjoy the calmness it offers! Go to relax or take family & friends! The peacefulness of it says it all! To think you can experience it amongst all the other things the area has to offer is amazing! It's different & it's great! Don't miss out!
