Lovely place and guide. Huskies were very sweet and excited to run. I was surprised how slow the ride was. For some reason I was expecting for them to run fast through the forest but it was nice slow trot with lovely scenery. Only thing I would’ve liked is to have more info about the dogs and the place. Our questions got all answered but that was all. No extra information. No kennel tour either.

We did a 7 km husky safari on January 2020. The lovely huskies, the wonderful landscapes passed through during dogsledge as well as the cozy lappish-kota where we grilled sausages, had warm drinks and storytelling, made the whole experience unforgettable !!!
The host was super helpful and give us all the appropriate instrusctions on how to drive the sledge.
Definitely recommended !!!

I booked the 7km dogsafari with Wingrens through Levi Tourist Office. On the day of our safari the lady came to pick us up to go to the farm. If I can remember her name was Maria and she is a lovely lady who told us so much about her dogs and answered my questions I had about the dogs with so much passion and love for their dogs.

I was surprised that the dogsafari was a small group and they dont do large groups. This was a very pleasant surprise and such a good decision of them to do their safaris with small groups.

The dogsafari went through breathtaking landscapes and the scenery was stunning. We went over frozen lakes, forrest etc.

The 7km distance was perfect. Not too short and not too long especially with a child and the fact that during the dogsafari its freezing cold. 10 Km would be ok too but personally I would not do more km's with a child.

After the safari we could cuddle the dogs and went to the Kota hut to bbq marshmellows and sausages on the open fire and hot berry juice.

After warming up the lady brought us back to the Levi Tourist Office which was the pick up and dropp off point.

This dogsafari was the highlight of our trip and my daughters favourite activity! Untill today she tells me she wished she could live on the farm to help with the dogs.

When we go back to Levi I would definately book a dogsafari with Wingrens again.

Thank you for such a wonderfull experience!! And I hope you are going to win the championship this year with the dogsledrace!

Me and my Daughter have been to Levi a few times now, and this is one of the best Husky experiences we have been on. I hesitate to say it's the best, only because we have special memories from all the others so it's tricky to pick between them.

We were picked up/dropped up from the Levi Tourist Building. We had booked the activity a few months before arriving, so print your voucher/invoice in case they need to tick you off their list.

The lady who drove us there also gave the instructions on how to manage the sled, and she was lovely. Very knowledgeable, and she spotted a couple of people in the group who could benefit from extra clothes and she helped them out with that.

And then it was time to ride! Our Husky team were ace, and absolutely crazy They got tangled up repeatedly because they just couldn't wait to run!
This was actually the easiest start to a ride I have had. On some, you have to run first and then jump on the sled, but this one you are released straight onto a lake so you could start with your feet on the sled and then the dogs will do the rest.

The course itself is beautiful. Across the frozen lakes, and through some forests. It's lovely. Not a challenging role for the driver either. There weren't any parts where I needed to run uphill to help the dogs, or any tricky downhill bits. Just a nice drive!

There was a guide following on a snowmobile, and he made my holiday video footage even better by taking the GoPro from my Daughter and giving it to his passenger to shoot some great footage of us. That was a nice touch.

Back at the farm, and we get to do one of my favourite things - grill sausages! There are also drinks, and I think there were cookies?
It's in this hut that you can see all the medals and trophies that Wingrens have won. Wow! This is a serious team!
The lady actually said that the dogs were trained for 1000 kilometre races, so the 10k we just did was like a gentle little stroll for them.

After we had ample time to relax, and ask questions of the amazing team - we were off around the farm to meet some of the future champion dogs! The puppies are ace. Little bundles of energy bounding around and having fun under the watchful eye of their Mum. She would inspect every gloved finger that came through the cage, and when she was happy that there was no danger she would leave the puppies to try and chew your brand new ski gloves.

We also met other dogs that were in training, and others who just weren't cut out for racing. This included Demo the part-wolf. They had tried to race Demo in the past, but he wasn't interested. So he is a pet at the Husky farm, and was very popular with our group. He loved the attention, and was pretty good at posing for pictures actually!

After the experience, you are driven back to your pick up point.

A superb activity. If you've never done a Husky experience before, I can highly recommend this one.

Tips - Just the clothing one really. Sort of a gimme with most of the things you'll do in Levi. Stay warm :-)

Thank you for an amazing experience Wingrens! We will see you again, I'm sure.

I loved our visit here. Our host was very nice and answered all the questions we had about the dogs and dog sledding. We got to “drive” the dogsled and pet the dogs afterwards. A highlight of our trip to Finland!

After much research into husky sledding, we found Wingren’s and soooo are glad we did! Booking was very smooth, easy and friendly. Maria picked up our group at Zero Point and drove us to their Husky farm in Kongas. As we pulled up the dogs went nuts, knowing they would get to run. First up is a brief lesson in how to run your own sled. It’s easier than it looks. When she noticed my clothing looked a bit thin, Maria outfitted me with a fashionable :) thermal suit and gloves. It’s very easy to run the sled. The dogs know where to go and do all the work. We took the 7k run. You are on your own, but staff follows with snowmobiles unobtrusively to make sure everything is okay. About half way you change and your partner drives while you sit. It’s exhilarating and fun! When you return you get to spend time with the dogs and learn their names. You also get hot juice, coffee or tea in their little hut around the fireplace and they also do a sausage roast over the fire. You can spend as much time as you wish with the dogs and meet some of the personal dogs as well. They never rush you and then they drive you back. Felt like family. They are involved in racing so are serious about their operation and their dogs are well cared for,and happy. Be sure to take cash as they don’t take cards. Highly recommend!

We booked this excursion through the Levi tourist information. We chose the 10 km safari. We were picked up from the tourist information building and taken to Wingrens. My husband and I were the only people that booked the noon safari, which was kind of nice! Once we arrived we learned how to dog sled. Our dogs were hooked up and we were off! I’m pretty sure our guide was behind us on snowmobile but it felt like we were the only ones on the frozen lake. We stopped halfway so I could sit and my husband could drive. The scenery was beautiful and the dogs are so smart! They followed the path without issues and took us back to the property. We learned that these dogs compete in several competitions and have won 1st place several times. We then went inside the Kota for some hot tea and to roast sausages over a fire. Then we went to see the puppies and other dogs in their kennels before being driven back to Levi. This was an unforgettable experience that we will cherish for years to come.

We had such an amazing time at Wingrens - it is clear they love their dogs and treat them like family. We took the 7km safari which was perfect. We got to drive the sleds ourselves but we had carers on snowmobiles close by if needed. We went on the lake and through the Forrest - very beautiful and peaceful scenery. Our ride ended with warm drinks and some fire roasted sausages - just what we needed to warm up after our ride. Then we got to meet the next generation of huskies - the puppies! Such a nice experience. Thank you for your hospitality!
Such s unique experience for an Australian!

It's actually quite hard to find the words to describe our experience with Wingrens Dogsafaris, but I'll try...

Having always wanted to go dog sledding, I was worried that it might not live up to my expectations, but it really was everything I'd ever imagined and more. Even though I felt like my fingers might fall off from the cold (despite wearing 2 liners insider my insulated mittens), the tranquility of being led through a winter wonderland by a pack of dogs whilst the low winter sun turns the frozen trees in to glittering crystal masterpieces was absolutely magical and something I would recommend to anyone.

We did the 10km safari, which for the temperature on the day, was ideal as it was a very cold day, and although we would have loved to have gone further, we certainly felt like we go a good sense of sledding without getting too cold. I can imagine that the 20km safari would be wonderful but on days where it's -10°C or lower, you'll probably need a break to warm up.

At the end of our trip we had the chance to warm up in the kota drinking hot juice and cooking sausages on the open fire, before meeting some more of the dogs and having a play with the puppies.

The only thing that would have made it even better would have been if we had been properly introduced to our sled dog team and found out their names and a bit about them.

At €110 per person it's certainly not a cheap activity, but in my opinion it's worth every penny, especially when you consider the amount of training the dogs need plus the costs of their feed and vets bills.

We have visited Wingrens 16 out of 17 years on our skiing holidays to Levi. Wingrens used to be the provider for Inghams husky experiences but Maria and Ole the owners have scaled down the business ( still have 47 dogs ! ) and now offer private bookings via the Levi Tourist office - we have tried other husky farms and they are all good but we find Maria so welcoming and we were delighted this year to get the experience all to ourselves, starting from the personal pick up by Maria from the Tourist office, to then being the only sled out on the frozen lake and through the forest. Ole was on his snowmobile in the background ready for the halfway point where we swapped drivers, but otherwise he was not visible and we really enjoyed the total peace with only the dogs for company. An extra surprise this time was a fox appearing on the track which the dogs were interested in but they stayed on the tracks when it ran off into the woods. After the ride Maria showed us the racing sleds which Ole will be using in the Gold Rush sled race near Ivalo later this month, and Ole was preparing for the race by going out as we left on a 40km training run. We had hot drinks and toasted sausages on the fire after the ride, and a good look around the kennels. We will definitely return as long as Maria and Ole are there and we would recommend this experience to anyone staying in Levi
