Overview
More
Wetheriggs Animal Rescue Centre is a small family run animal sanctuary now based at Thorpe Farm Centre near Barnard Castle having previously been situated in Clifton Dykes near Penrith since it started in 2006. The centre is currently home to over 600 animals, many of which have been pets in the past and are now looking for new homes. Some of the animals are brought in from the RSPCA and other animal rescue organisations and centres. There is lots to see, and visitors have the chance to get close to many of the animals and even feed some of them. We offer talks and animal handling sessions during weekends and local school holidays, and we are always happy to go the extra mile for our visitors, so if there is any animal you'd like to hold or learn more about please just ask.

A really lovely place lots to see and well worth a visit. It does need a bit of TLC but for what they do there for the animals and from the majority of it being volunteer work it is very understandable. I just feel this...More

If I'm being honest, the place was a little scruffy and some of the cages could have done with being bigger/cleaner. However, it is very clear that this is a lovely family business and that they are pouring their hearts and souls into what they...More

We went here whilst holidaying in the lakes and thought it would be good to take the kids to a zoo. I feel that this is a big false advertisement as there is nothing zoo like about it. It cost £17.50 for a family ticket...More
