Right outside guerneville. Worth the trip even if just to drive thru. We hiked 7 mikes to bullfrog lake and back. Really steep. But pretty.

Surprisingly long drive from American Canyon given the 77km distance but well worth it. Many hiking/walking options for all skill levels.

Beautiful, peaceful walk through the Redwoods. A must-see if you are in the area! However, be sure to wear bug spray😀

Fantastic walk (even with a sore leg) not too long - can stop anywhere along and turn around to go back. Saw a woman with a walker as well so those with mobility issues can still enjoy this reserve!

My husband and I took the East Ridge Trail. Very glad we did, because it was amazing. Some of the inclines were pretty steep.

A must see in Guerneville. The trees are majestic and the walk easy! Also educational due to the placards along the path.

We have been hiking Armstrong Forest for many years and always notice new nature all about. Some of the trails are harder than others and it's always a great workout. Make sure to bring water because the only water fountain is at the vehicle entrance...More

I love Muir Woods, in Marin, but Armstrong is also beautiful, and without the parking nightmare and big crowds. Definitely worth a visit!

Alas, dogs are not allowed on any of the reserve's trails. I'd say the answer has to be no.
Is there an admission cost?

We parked in the lot & walked in so there was no charge. If you drive up to the theater, etc, there is an admission fee.
