Only wanted to go for the Johnny Cash t shirts for my kids but was surprised by all the history inside this little house. You can see anything form the CA license plates that are made at the prison to Johnny Cash memorabilia to lots...More

This is a small kind of silly museum but everyone asks when you go to Folsom, everyone asks if you went to the prison, since I had no one to visit there this was the best I could do. Good place to by a t-shirt...More

You can't go to Folsom without visiting this place! Make sure you see the 20 minute video giving a presentation of the prison as well. The museum shows you confiscated items from inmates, stuff they've made, uniforms, a mock cell (notice the eyes in the...More

Famous Folsom prison!!! The second prison in the state, built for prisoners by prisoners in the early 1900's. This low cost tour is very eye opening! It's a small museum just outside the east gate, packed full of interesting artifacts and information. if you're coming...More

As we were driving to the museum through the grounds of the prison it was so unappealing with the large stone walls and guard towers that we felt uncomfortable and turned around and left.

Cash was not a prisoner there! Many people believe that, but you can find out all the details about it if you visit the unusual museum at the inside gate. The 'docents' of this museum are mostly retired former prison guards, and they have some...More

There are no tours of the Prison. You can only take photos of the east gate. There's a small but informative museum with a few artifacts staffed by retired Corrections Officers. If you're in the neighborhood....it's worth the visit. Otherwise, you might be disappointed.

Unless you're a real prison history buff, I do NOT recommend this place. Everything you've always wanted to know about shivs and body cavity searches. Drive in. Take a photo of the front of the prison and leave.

No. He actually played inside the prison and you cannot go inside. The museum is located outside the gates.

I don't think anyone is allowed inside the prison. The museum is small, no need for a tour
