We had a very nice drive from Reno through Tahoe National Forest to Sacramento area. The trees were beautiful with the snow. People were building snow men. Tahoe National Forest is an area of 1362 square miles.

one of my all time favorite towns, charming, quaint, and so beautiful. I visit quite often and the restarants and bars are friendly and nice, also the motels are affordable and clean, I will always come back.

We went to Tahoe National Forest after the mid November 2015 storm snow. Its so great to see the pines covered in snow. A nice drive is on highway 80 to see them, but best is to get off the main road and see them...More

This trip was traveling in jeeps exploring some of the old routes and sites the early settlers used. No matter what you like to do outdoors you can probably enjoy it in this area.

The views, the mountains, the trees, the lakes, and the rivers are all wonderful. The weather was perfect and warm even at night. A must see area to visit and stay in a cabin, a motel, or camp.

The forestry roads are better on my truck than the local gravel paths. We were pleased when we turned off on one to go to the top of the mountain.

There are multiple great areas to stage a camping/hiking trip out of. The best ones are either in the Lakes Basin, above Sierra City, or the Grouse Ridge, off highway 20. Alpine lakes with beautiful granite settings, loads of trees, even some Aspens.
