Camped at Northshore Campground east of Chester two miles. Rustic campground with great views of the lake. Old utilities and hard to level in several sites. But we enjoyed it once we found sites we could level on. Had fires and watched the lake and...More

Almanor is beautiful. It's not overrun with tourists, unless you go to the Big Cove area. That area is way too congested and is wall to wall people in the summer. Best avoiding it. Whether hiking down the rocks to Hamilton Branch, swimming off the shores...More

After my negative review of the swimming beach on the west shore of Lake Almanor last year (when I gave the lake a poor review for drought-induced impacts including fish parasites and an algal bloom in the water), I returned to see how more water...More

This lake is huge. We stopped for a picnic at a designated picnic stop. The restroom were clean and the picnic area was clean as well.

A not to miss Northern CA destination. Water sports, camping, fishing, golf and other lodging. I have been enjoying this lake region for over 40 years!

Lovely lake, uncrowded and dotted with beaches along its shores. Not many boats due to wind but still a pleasant visit and good spot to stop for picnic lunch if you are just driving through.

We bought a second home in the Hamilton Branch area of the lake three years ago. We had looked all over northern California for a getaway place and kept coming back to this area. Very glad we did.

Sunrise over the lake is simply breath taking with the low hanging fog over the water surface while a couple of white pelicans gracefully swimming in the mist.

There are plenty of beaches around Lake Almanor - they are public and you should have no problem finding one.
