Lake Almanor is as big as Tahoe with out all the build out around the lake. Good place to fish and water ski. This is a must visit in the summer if you are near Chester, California.

Every year I visit this lake and I've written reviews for the previous 2 years. Previously, the water levels were low and the water quality was poor. But this year (2017), the lake water level was up, thanks to a far higher amount of winter...More

Stayed in Lake Almanor West. Fairly close to Chester the closest town around that has anything offer. Golf course is fine and in good shape - one nine with different tees to make an 18-hole course. Hiking/Biking trails abound in and around Lake Almanor. You...More

By going when things were closed and gated, there was not not much to see or do. I understand there are great places to eat and see. Just not at this time of year.

There are plenty of beaches around Lake Almanor - they are public and you should have no problem finding one.
