Beautiful as usual

There's a reason the town of Carmel is where it is. The beach is lovely with soft white sand and lots of friendly dogs. I love the fire pits the city provides for s'mores.

Depending on the time of year, this beach will either be fully walkable down to Ribera Beach (when the Carmel River is low, like it was in August) or only walkable to the Carmel River which is connected to the ocean (which it was in April).

This beach is nestled between Carmel by the Sea beach and the more dangerous Carmel Beach. Plenty of white sands, a fresh water estuary with sea birds where the Carmel River meets the sea and a more gentle surf along one side of the beach give it its own special charm. Well maintained restroom facilities make it perfect for a... More

One must stop for awhile at the beach at the end of Ocean Ave. One of the nicest beach and is dog friendly!! A must go and hang out and relax!

Water here is warmer than in the beach, and is definitely a nice place to spend some time with your kids or dogs.

Everyone hits Carmel Beach (which is a great view of the sunset), but I like this one so much more - safer wading for kids, great sand, not as many dogs peeing everywhere. Highly recommended.

Carmel River State Beach is a windswept shore in Monterrey Bay. It's a cold beach, but a beautiful backdrop for romantic walks or even weddings. Even in the early spring through the summer, come prepared for the cold. Also, it's not advisable to go swimming as there are dangerous rip tides and swift currents. This mile long stretch of peacefulness... More

It is a beautiful beach. 5 stars due to its beauty. It is not a swimming beach. It is very dangerous because of the rip tides. Do an internet search of the beach drownings and near death experiences. You will find plenty. We visited with small children and were letting our girls get their feet wet (not swim). A local... More
