We took our foreign guests (partners parents) to visit here. All of us enjoyed it and it was nice to be there for the educational talk with the animals - our 3 year old daughter loves spiders and snakes and she was delighted to touch some reptiles and see a spider up close like that. There were so many butterflies... More

I took my grandson to see the butterflies and was a little disappointed as there were not that many to be honest! It had other interesting reptiles and birds and some guinea pigs but not enough butterflies!! The birds are well cared for and had plenty of food around. The shop is a tad tacky, room for improvement there! Otherwise a... More

A wonderful place for kids with plenty of opportunities for interaction with guinea pigs and birds. Had a bird sitting on my shoulder. If you fear birds and rabbits attaching themselves to you, this section of butterfly world may not be for you. It has an educational that area that seems to come alive during holidays. May only occupy a... More

Having visited butterfly parks in various country's I was really looking forward to this one ..it being in S. A. I imagined the variety.s would be something special ..butterfly's are so delicate and the many designs and colours of their wings are so pretty ..but alas this visit was a big letdown ..we entered the enclosed area and .....unless they... Although my friend visiting from Australia enjoyed the visit, I was a bit disappointed. Gone is the good restaurant that used to be at the entrance to the facility. Now you have to work your way through the whole facility to get a cup of coffee. The coffee and scones were not bad and was reasonably priced, but the butterflies... More

Thank you for your detailed response. We have indeed undergone major changes in the last 6 months. The family restaurant next door is now part of Butterfly World Zoo and has become our main eatery. The two sites are connected via a walk way that takes you past the large aviary. Over the years Butterfly World Zoo has changed from... More

Excellent attraction and value for money. Birds, butterflies, snakes, iguanas, lizards and even guinea pigs. Small shop and drinks station. Would recommend for a couple of hours.

The key to this is that you must go early when there are lots of butterflies around, there tend to be fewer and fewer as the day goes on. They are all beautiful and I also enjoyed the iguanas, parrots and other birds. Worth a visit.

Thank you Sammi, We care for over 700 animals here, so it is awesome that you enjoyed the iguanas and birds as well. We have come a very long way from being a butterfly enclosure to a full on zoo that takes in animals that have nowhere else to go. Hope to see you again soon! More

While it was educational and there were some interesting things to see, it felt a bit run down and it would have been nice to have a tour guide or someone to make it a bit more interesting or more information to read. The smell from the food for the animals for a pregnant woman was quite strong! The entrance... More

We had a very pleasant experience today. The interior is very interesting and appealing. We thoroughly enjoyed walking through so many little critters. Our child especially loved having the butterflies around her, but here I would agree with a previous poster. There are what looks like hundreds of beautiful butterflies pinned up in display cases but very few actual specimens... More

We visited Butterfly World with our 2 year old son. It was easy to find and there was lots of parking. The entrance fee was a bit expensive but at our son could enter for free. Great place to for photographers…my husband spent the full 2 hours of our visit taking photos of the different butterflies. The butterflies only kept... More

Thank you for this honest review. Well done for bringing the little one. Even if their attention spans are short, they retain a massive amount of information, but more importantly, they remember how they felt, seeing and experiencing the different creatures and lush gardens. It is never too early to introduce children to the amazing variety of creatures and plants... More
