We are Jeep-people (true 4x4, not a maul-crawler), but we know that many of our family and friends are not. Coyote Canyon is a great trail for showing guests the beauty of the desert--they can drive their own cars rather than cram in the back...More

My daytrip was on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. The flower blooms were pretty nice along Coyote Canyon Road, but unfortunately the Ocotillos had not started to bloom much. When that happens, the canyon is very pretty. In a few weeks it should be much better. The...More

The spring flowers were as spectacular here as anywhere else in the area, but much smaller crowds. Dirt road was in good condition, no need for high clearance vehicle to get to nice blooms.

Drove up the canyon. Did not see a big bloom. A few lupine and budded Ocatillo. Easy for four wheel drive but not worth the effort until the Ocatillo are in bloom. Could be now or in few days. No carpets of lowers. Lots of...More

Drove a Subaru Forester to beyond 3rd crossing while hunting for historic landmarks. Really enjoyed the drive.

An easy two wheel drive back to desert gardens lead us to the back side of Coyote Mountain. Interesting geology. Love the desert and all it offers. Would be spectacular when wild flowers are blooming.

Borrego Springs is famous for its Spring wildflowers, and the easiest place to see them is Coyote Canyon. An easily drivable dirt road runs miles up the canyon. In a good year, you will see dozens of varieties of flowers, along with flowering ocotillos and...More
