Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small, overrated beach. Packed with people, and when it's not their trash is still everywhere. Very hard to find parking. Lots of dogs which could be nice, but people don't seem to pick up their dog poop here. The waves aren't bad but are overcrowded. Locals seem to know tourists have ruined the beach and are very hostile, the people next to me got their car window waxed. Not worth the drive.

This beach is a bit up the road from the city. The water is cold and there is often a lot of cool fog, so the crowds re meager. It is truly beautiful and a northern California classic.

I grew up in Marin and have been to Bolinas since I was a child (decades ago). It has always been a bit 'funky' but had a nice beech. Now it has almost no beech and is filled with people who appear to simply be drug addled 60's leftovers. I would not recommend Bolinas for any families or anyone not wanting to be involuntarily subjected to communist politics.

Was almost scary the way we were treated, just because they didn't know us. We weren't Invaders trying to kill them but you couldn't get a word in. O my God.

We drove by this beach on our way up the Coast and it was lovely in the Fall weather. Not many people around. Very peaceful. We will come back and spend time.

Cars parked everywhere along very narrow streets. People walking on the road make it even more difficult. The beach is quite small and no the beautiful sand we wanted. This spot appears to be quite popular with the fishermen. So, if you are planning on swimming/playing in the water lookout for lines and hooks.

For many years I've driven down the Ca. Coastal Highway, and can find Bolinas, even without the sign that legend has it is taken down by residents to keep their paradise secret. I understand why, and want to help them hide their paradise. It's a place that time has forgotten. Think hippie lifestyle , organic everything, and narrow streets that wind down to a calm beautiful Bay. Not telling you how to get there. You'll have to figure it out.

Suggest you leave early to visit this charming old hippie town on weekends because it doesn't have much parking areas. We left after driving around 45 minutes. The sole saving grace was we saw an Open House sign on the way out and we followed it...and ended up spending a lovely half hour viewing a gorgeous coastal house with gorgeous ocean view s andit's own beach.

Great place with mild waves to start to learn how to surf. 2 Mile Surf Shop is ideal for rentals and lessons. Nearby and friendly.

Not a big sandy beach like Stinson, nice stop to collect driftwood and rocks with holes in them. When the tide is high, the beach is almost gone. There is also a great surfing lane, if you want to catch some waves.
