Lovely Small Lake to Hike Around or Swim in (at least most of the time)

On a sunny day this is a great spot to bring family and friends. There is a charge for children and adults. I feel that's good because it would get more crowded if there wasn't a fee. It's a great area for kids to swim as well as adults. Ducks swim by and walk around the beach with their young.... More

I've visited Lake Anza countless times over the years. It is serene and calm, with a huge field for picnicking and playing frisbee, and with a lifeguarded beach area, and many picnic tables. You can walk around the entire lake in about half an hour -- some parts are somewhat treacherous but nothing that bad. Great place to hang out... More

This small lake has been part of Tilden Regional Park for at least seventy years. There is a beach where you can spread out your beach blanket and sunbathe and swim. Right now (October) there is an algae bloom, so the lake is closed for swimming. This issue, however, is seasonal, so you can usually swim in the summer months.... More

Lake Anza is a gem. It is not overused so you can enjoy the experience without feeling crunched. The water is fine, the location and setting is beautiful (set inside Tilden Park) and it is open to the public. Berkeley is not a place for very hot weather so come during the heat of the day.

My daughter and I took her two boys age 4, and 3 1/2 to this place yesterday. It was $3.50 per adult and $2.50 per child over 1. We had such an amazing time the beach was clean, the water was refreshing, and life guards were there to keep everyone safe. The lake is cordoned off with rope and buoys... More

Beat the Heat and take the family to this beautiful lake in the San Francisco Bay Area's famous East Bay Regional Park Tilden Park area. Great for hiking, biking, and picnicking with the family this summer. Cool SF Bay breezes make this a very comfortable spot to beat the heat while being out in nature.

My son went here on a field trip with his middle school class and they all had a lot of fun. There were life guards and changing rooms. There were places to eat and habg out. Plenty of parking too!
