When I have company visiting Bakersfield for first time I always take them here. Usually see peacocks walking around their part of the park. Once in a while see male peacocks open their colorful feathers and even “dancing” to try to impress the females. Sometimes...More

We were disappointed as we only saw one peacock. The ranger house in the park was closed and boarded up. They used to fence in the peacocks at night then let them out. Not sure what is happening anymore.

Nice park along Kern River. Picnic tables, shady trees, lawn, several lakes and peacocks around offices. Don't miss the feral cats near the old water wheel.

Hart Park is a very large park on the outskirts of Bakersfield. There are plenty of ball fields and picnic areas. The peacocks get all the publicity, but there's plenty of other wildlife like geese, ducks, and we even saw deer. We didn't hike, but...More
