How many crops can you name?

Was just passing through on my way to some photog appointments, so really only shot a few pics out my window. Sure wish I had more time to linger in the gloriously irrigated lushness, as this area reminds me of a time I lived in the Midwest. Such an imperative area too, full of tons of farms, supplying necessary crops.... More

We were having fun trying to identify every crop we passed in the central valley, and for some we pulled off to get a closer look: grapes, corn, strawberries, cotton, spinach, carrots, oranges, etc. We gave up on some nut trees we couldn't identify. There's probably a game to be made from this. It's a wonderfully educational trip filled with... More

We have driven through the Great Central Valley several times. This is where I-5 is. Its more than that however. It is an important agricultural and cattle raising area. It also has several wildlife viewing areas. We also like several of the cities. These cities include Mt. Shasta, Redding, Chico, Yuba City, Sacramento, Stockton, Porterville, Modesto, Turlock, Merced, Fresno, Visalia,... More

The Central Valley has endless farming and dairy fields, and there are freeways that run through it allowing you to see them. It is one of the most unique places in the world, and a lot of food is produced here. I love to live here, and there is a culture not found anywhere else.

This is a center for oil and agriculture. Bakersfield has grown up. It has over 385000 people, excellent restaurants and some special ones. Shopping is improving.

We travel through and around the Great Central Valley often because we live here! It is the breadbasket of the world. The roads to the beaches, mountains, and deserts runs through it. A great place to live (except for the air quality, at times).

I spent my earliest years in the Valley; lived in an agricultural setting, though my family weren't farmers. I learned at an early age how important the Valley was in terms of the massive amount of food that it produced to feed our Country. I participated in a festival that celebrated the completion of the first major State-wide water transfer... More

Love driving through the California farmlands of America and parts of the World. Many capitals in the Valley of fruits and vegetables. The fields are beautiful! Some great photo ops. Also farm stands with goodies to buy along the way for immediate indulging and future home use. Here are some of the things we saw growing and or bought: garlic,... More

I grew up here and have recently moved back after a 25 year absence. While it isn't perfect, I think it is a great place to live. Thanks to the fertile soil, about half of the country's food is grown here. That equates to freshness and low prices delivered to your dinner table. Bakersfield, the southern-most large city, offers jobs... More

Must tell you that during my trip in early November, the air quality was really awful in the Valley. Stayed that way for several days...
