Picture a whole town that is a historical site, maybe not every building but a bunch of them. There are 2 restored court houses, a gun collection, nice old houses and basic log cabins, an inn (have lunch there), a very cool blacksmiths shop, old school. About half the locations have staff present for info and tours. There is easily... More

So much history here that is a vital part of how the US expanded. Guides were knowledgeable and were very hospitable. Check out their civil war re-enactments and holiday events that preserve the authenticity of years gone by.

Do not miss this if you have the opportunity! Plan a day around this state park, we spent 5 hours here and could have spent more! The town of Washington has several buildings (houses and businesses) with character tour guides (dressed period appropriate) that tell you about the towns history. Some of the buildings are replicas, but they're all awesome!... More

We had a relaxed visit on a Sunday, and were able to go through 4 buildings. The lady who did the printing shop knew everything about those printers! very interesting. You do have to do a little walking, and we went slowly since it was so hot. We also enjoyed learning how to dip candles and go tone to take... More

This is a nice little town with a few open exhibits, depending on the day you go. Not all exhibits are open all days. There is a sizeable "admission" fee payable in advance in the Visitors center. All exhibits close around noon for a 30 minute lunch break, so plan to be near the Visitor's Center or your own vehicle... More

After a morning of digging diamonds, we were indecisive about what to do next. Thankfully this little gem popped up in my Trio Advisor feed and away we went to Washington! We arrived at 4pm but were able to see the Trimble House and the Blacksmith shop. Let me just say, my favorite stop were these two places (we came... More

Typical mid 18th century layout like a fort, but nicely kempt. I enjoy the Bowie knife crafting lesson given there from time to time, check for the schedule with the park. David Bowie, inventor of the Bowie Knife started honing his craft here, in Washington, AR. Music shows are held here from time to time in conjunction with big events... More

It is an 1800-1900's style community that has a museum at the center of town. You can see an old schoolhouse, courtroom, and an old blacksmith shop. It is for ages 18-60. The only bad thing about this is when your down there, there is nothing else to do there. The only other attraction near is Millwood lake which is... More

My husband and I were traveling thru Arkansas to see some of its beauty. We stopped at the Visitors Bureau on highway 30 as we entered the state. There we saw a display of artifacts from Washington, AR. We talked to the official and he told us some about the park. We decided to go. You exit for Hope, but... More
