Name is misleading, it's a pretty hardcore torture museum.

I, my wife, our 11 year old son and 9 year old daughter all visited this museum in the middle of Santillana. While it is labeled as the Museum of the Inquisition, we learned very... read more

We spent at least a hour walking up and down the road trying to find this museum. Eventually we went to the Tourist Office to be told that it is closed and will not open again until after December 2016.

I, my wife, our 11 year old son and 9 year old daughter all visited this museum in the middle of Santillana. While it is labeled as the Museum of the Inquisition, we learned very little about the Inquisition but a lot about torture devices used around the world. It really should just be called the Museum of Torture but... More

This museum is right in the middle of the old part of Santillana Del Mar. It is quite small but full of interesting examples of torture equipment. All of the information is in both Spanish and English which is great. The torture implements show that we certainly had a very barbaric past with a need to get the truth or... More

Gruesome stuff, you will want to read the details of each piece of apparatus with one eye closed. The next item more terrible as you move on. Not for the feint hearted. I did not know how many places you could stick a sharp object yuk! I can't believe I am saying that you must go.

We decided to look round this museum as the weather had changed! It's a small museum but has lots of information about past and present torture procedures, gruesome at times! Factual displays with photos. Not everyone's idea of fun but interesting.

Spent a long time here reading about barbarity. The exhibits are excellent and clearly explained in English and Spanish. Our capacity for invention and ingenuity to produce items and methods of utmost cruelty is rawly explained and displayed.

Horrible torture machines and devices. If you go ... prepare to see things that will stay in your mind forever. Shocking things that people have done and continue to do to one another. Very upsetting and I consider myself a tough guy....

I decided to pop in here on a recent visit to Santillana del Mar. Probably would have been better to view it after lunch. A wee bit disturbing.

The evil ways humanity has devised to inflict pain and torture on one another is horrifying - the display of numerous weapons of torture with clear descriptions in multiple languages gave us all the chills and wary of not inviting any of these rituals into our lives

Not your usual happy vacation adventure but you will see what people have been capable of in the name of their beliefs. Not to over sell the visit but it has impacted our lives.
