Not open at the end of Feb 2021
Feb 2021 • Couples
We visited Garachino yesterday (Sat) and the natural pools were not accessible (were taped). The only stairs to the sea open were to the shallow public beach on the side. Reason not clear. Either season or coronavirus.

Different experience!

Went in October still during covid but reservations are not needed anymore, tape has also been removed. Very nice natural pools, nicest we could find on the island and the village is charming.

Really, really good fun swimming!
Aug 2020
pre-amble- We went during COVID, and so places were marked out for sunbathing with tape and we had to pre-book on an app. A lady in a local shop told us that the app was a new thing- will it stay post-COVID?? No idea! The app also gave you a restricted time of 2hrs with a QR code that was checked on the door- get there a little early if you can.

This is a really great place to go for "family-splash" swimming, although it is deep water, so you have to be comfortable out of your depth. I can well imagine this the water will get cold and rough- it really crashes into the rocks on a calm day.

Situated right in the middle of the town on the main road, there is parking (but not loads) nearby an also a regular public swimming baths if you want to do lengths or more formal swimming. These are sea-fed ocean pools that come with crabs, sea weed and anything else the ocean washes up, although we found the water to be very clean. There are kind-of 2 sections, the main long pool and the terrace which has access to the ocean itself. Photos of both are included. I do think the open ocean bit would need you to be quite a good swimmer, it was rough and deep on what was otherwise a lovely hot day.

We took reef shoes, which are very useful in very hot or on stony beaches- and they were very useful here, many people were using them. There are also some good diving places ranging from 1 metre to about 3 metres high, just take a lead from the locals where to go and wait your turn! There are steps into the water for those (like me) who don't like diving and you can cling onto the rocks in various places too.

There are loos that are easily big enough to get changed in and general info about water temp and weather conditions, which is useful. The whole thing, which is free and council-run, does have a slight cheek-by-jowel feel to it, and the paved terraces (some of which are covered) are very hard and not good to lie on, and get very hot. Be prepared (in normal times) to be very close to other people and not have much room to yourself- but that's not why you are here!

It is life-guarded, which is good, and you will have to be courteous to other bathers!

Very nice place to stop by
Jan 2020
Even though the water might be too cold to enter, it's very nice to just walk around in and take a stroll and enjoy the view and the ocean breeze. The area is very enjoyable and well designed and there is a large free parking lot, which is always an advantage.

Unmissable
Jan 2020 • Couples
These pools are extraordinary and well worth seeing. In winter the sea is very rough and some of the paths constructed round are closed. But still well worth exploring. It helps to read first how they were formed after the eruption in the 18th century. Unmissable.

Stunning natural pools
Oct 2019
Garachico is a beautiful little town altogether, but for us, this was the highlight of our stay. It is amazing to just remain on the shore and watch the waves come and go. The clean turquoise water, the black lava rocks that form the pools, are unique. The inhabitants have added stone paths and steps for people to be able to approach the natural pools and even sunbathe or swim, if they dare. We could have stayed for hours just watching and taking photos of the splashing waves. Recommend warmly!

stunning

It's amazing what they have created in Garachico, natural pools in the sea where everybody can enjoy without risking their lives as the waves can be strong! There are also lifeguards. It's definitely a place to go during your trip in Tenerife!! Very recommended!

Stop off on coach tour
Oct 2019 • Couples
This was on the itinerary and we followed the guide from the coach not sure where we were going. As it turned out this place was amazing. The colour of the water was turquoise and the lava rocks and waves coming over them was beautiful to watch. We could have spent longer there if not restricted by the timetable. Highly recommend a visit.

Nature and people
Sep 2019 • Family
It's always stunning when nature makes beautiful natural pools, but what is amazing about this place us that the people made it approachable without ruining the natural beauty itself! It's also good for the small kids, and the water was warm and clean!
