About
One of the great visitor attractions in County Wexford.... Fanned by flames of Revolution in America and France, the events of 1798 in Ireland are etched forever on the annals of Irish history. Vividly re-told in an exciting interpretation of events the "Rebellion Experience" at The National 1798 Rebellion Centre is not to be missed. On your visit you will learn in gruesome detail how some 20,000 insurgents faced the might of 10,000 well-trained and well-armed Crown Forces, and learn the significance of the nearby Vinegar Hill Battlefield.

Excellent Visitor attraction

This was a very interesting and very moving experience. Learned a lot about what happened in 1798 and the movement towards democracy. The installations are compelling and you are invited through the whole exhibition by audio video experience. It is exceptionally moving especially the section on Vinegar Hill. 1,500 people died women children and injured left there for months afterward. This is well worth a visit .

Not to be missed if in Enniscorthy. A combination of audio visual and high tech presentations for the whole family. Vey different hands on exhibition.

A quick primer on the 1798 Irish Rebellion
Sep 2019
On our way to Waterford from Wicklow, we stopped by The National 1798 Rebellion Centre, in Enniscorthy. The display galleries channel you through the lead up to 1798, with the roles the American and French Revolution had in it. Some of the graphics are quite well done and there is plenty to read and dwell on. Our stop was just about an hour and well worth the entrance fee.

Worth visiting

1798 Rebellion Centre was very interesting and well worth the visit. Very kind and helpful staff on the day of our visit. It inspired us then to visit the Fr Murphy Exhibition and Vinegar Hill that afternoon. All 3 well worth the trip.

Wow!!

Wow! I didn’t expect this. It was fun, interactive and educational and brought a tear to my eye. Funnily enough the man on the desk liken parts of of it a certain wax figure attraction in London, I used to work for said attraction and can say with out a doubt this blows that said attraction out of the water in terms of over all experience and value for money. It so well laid out and brilliant way to learn about the revolution. Well worth a visit and worth ticket price.

Met with a smile

We arrived here after climbing Vinegar Hill. We were met by a very cheery lady, who explained that the tour was self guided and what it entailed. It was good value for money and very well laid out.

Informative centre
Jul 2019 • Couples
Female receptionist is definitely a people person. Each room area has the right amount of information to keep you alert and motivated to learn more. Sets the Irish conflict within the American and French conflicts. Interactive in areas. Necessary to see this before visiting Vinegar Hill.

This is a very informative centre. We arrived just as it opened on a Sunday lunchtime. We were fairly unaware of the 1798 rebellion, but are now fully informed!
The gentleman on the desk was very helpful and we had a lovely chat with home whilst we enjoyed a coffee in the cafe before starting our tour and again when we finished. A great place to visit, especially on a Sunday in the summer when everywhere else seems to be closed.
