Ohmygosh, did we have fun! We had do idea what to expect. We came to jump, and jump we did! They have jumps set up around the very large property, so there was much variety. We worked (hard) on our step downs and ups, and were glad for the instruction provided. It was just the two of us (how lucky were we!), but at no time did we feel pushed to take a jump or do something with which we weren't uncomfortable. Of course, the other side of that coin is that we pushed ourselves and it was fun facing the uncomfortable!

We did not stay at the property; in hindsight, it would have been very nice. The lunch they provided us could have fed an army AND the horses they rode in on, and was very delicious. A German woman who was staying at the lodge said they were feeding her like that three times a day, every day.

We had the same horses each time we rode, and I actually liked that. I'm old, and sometimes trying new horses on new terrain can be a lot of work for me. I'm sure if you wanted different horses each day that could be arranged.

The staff is charming, the dogs darling, and Mark is the kind of man you want to sit with, scotch in hand after dinner, and hear the stories he has to tell.

Having not ridden regularly for two years I was feeling a little rusty, confident but rusty. Mark paired me with his own horse, a magnificent 17.3hh bay gelding called Jack. Mark described him as ‘a “riders” horse’ and explained that our needed to be a partnership.

Mark knows his horses, is intuitive about his guests and (I believe) paired each horse and rider in our party perfectly.

Jack gave me a great feel from the start. His excitement for the job was palpable and his focus, second to none. My job was to show him the line and ride with confidence and trust. We both played our parts and soon enough we were ‘in tune’ with each other.

The rides were thrilling. The grounds offered up endless beauty and the terrain was ever changing.

In Australia, I would never go riding in the rain let alone jump a powerful, forward going horse at solid jumps in the heavy (and sometimes greasy) going! However, after 10 mins in the saddle, you didn’t notice the light rain and the horses are all as surefooted as stags.

I recommend Crossogue Equestrian to riders of all abilities. To challenge yourself, to enjoy yourself and be lifted both literally and figuratively.

I did not stay at Crossogue this time but plan to in the future. The accommodation, the food !!! WOW. I will be back in 2024.

Myself and my mother went to Crossogue for a day of cross country jumping. The staff were incredibly welcoming, offering us a cup of tea and scones as soon we arrived. The stable hands were very friendly, happy to bring us our horses and help us mount without crowding us. The horses themselves were incredibly well behaved and in excellent condition. The horse I was given, Twix, was a real point and fire ride, she was easy and enthusiastic. I felt instantly that I could trust her to do her job. Mark took us out on the course and made absolutely sure we had a really rewarding experience. It was clear that he always had the horse and riders well being in mind. I never felt pushed to do anything I didn't want to do, but my confidence over the day grew and by the end I was flying over jumps without even a second thought. The hack around the estate is perfect for anyone who doesn't need the thrill of jumping the impeccably maintained cross country course. The whole farm is clean, well looked after and quite frankly, beautiful. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking at an equestrian holiday and I hope to return someday myself.

I visited Crossogue in April 2019 as a solo traveller. I've been riding for 18 years but haven't really done much cross country before, so wanted to challenge myself by doing something completely different! I can honestly say this was one of the best riding experiences that I have ever done and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking to do a horsey holiday, either to do alone or with a group of friends and wants to progress their riding.

Noel sure is a brilliant but demanding instructor! After 18 years of riding on group lessons where individual 121 feedback is limited, this was a real eye opener for me. At the start of the week the focus was on improving technique with an emphasis on rhythm, popping over smaller fences whereas towards the end of the week Noel had me moving on to more technical and bigger fences (the dreaded steps!). Riding and jumping outside in the countryside is so different to that in an arena and I was fortunate to have a lovely horse called Patch who looked after me for the week and gave me the confidence I needed to tackle the fences.

Aside from the riding, Mark and his team went out of their way to make me feel at home and I was fortunate enough to meet the most wonderful other guests during my time at Crossogue. The house and grounds are beautiful and the food is all home cooked and freshly made. We had the lovely Alice cook for us and I can honestly say she's inspired me to want to become a better cook!

I had the best week at Crossogue and will cherish the memories that I made forever. The only thing that could have been improved was the weather - but that's Ireland for you!

An awesome experience at Crossogue Equestrian in Tipperary!
We did a day trip-morning coffee, 2 rides and a homemade lunch in between.
This place is absolutely stunning; rich fertile land, masses of acres of gorgeous pastures and the most stunning house/base where a huge welcome was extended us, welcoming chats and delicious home cooked meals.
The horses are fabulous; forward going but safe and well trained, really well matched to the rider and exquisitely well looked after. They have the horses trained to safely jump well in excess of a 1.20m, so our experience of 40’s/60’s/80’s wasn’t a push safety-wise for them.
We had time in the arena in the morning after our coffees where we got to know our horses and our coach/guide, Noel, got to know us. I am not a strong rider and try not to take myself too seriously on horseback-a busy mom with lots on, so as long as I had a nice day where I was challenged safely, I was happy. This delivered!
After some tuition, we got ourselves out to the vast and beauififul XC course.
It was so well done; we hacked out to each field/series of jumps, then Noel explained what we were to do, then we would do it! Then some coaching, then repeat.
It was a really challenging day but so enjoyable we learned a hell of a lot.
It’s not cheap to visit Crossogue, but it was a fabulous day and so well worth it.
Next time, would love to go for a couple of nights to really get the full of this equestrian oasis! 😇❤️🐎
Highly recommended 👌
Best of luck Mark & team for the coming season. This place is just stunning!

I came across Crossgue when an instagram friend posted she was going on a trip there. I decided to overcome some of my fears in jumping and join her. I took a bus to Thurles and there a few of us were picked up and taken the rest of the way to Crossogue.

The staff is more than amazing, the horses are wonderful, training was great, and the food was a 10/10! This trip served to help me get over some anxiety I had about jumping certain fences. Let me tell you it did! In the beginning I was nervous to pop over a log! They were patient with me and had the most wonderful, experienced, athletic horses. By the end of the week I was flying around a whole cross country course that I felt I could do with ease! I even asked if I could try some jumps I saw out in the field on the last day and they encouraged me to go for it! I felt comfortable and free, confident and happy! I'm going again next October!

I had some expectations going to Crossogue and my time there went above and beyond my expectations. I highly recommend Crossogue even to riders who aren't confident in jumping cross country. Not only did I have a blast meeting wonderful people and enjoying Ireland, I accomplished my goal of becoming a more confident jumper.
