Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Cathedral is a beautiful building with a clear approach, allowing a good view of the facade. On entering, there is a great feeling of space and a sense of being inside a very special place.
It is built in an Italianate Romanesque style, similar to the Cathedral in Pisa (Italy). The work began under Dr Leahy and when complete, it was consecrated by Dr Leahy and Dr Croke. The cost was £30k.
Interestingly, the tabernacle was designed by Giacomo della Porta who was a student of Michaelangelo. It was actually intended for a church in Rome but was purchased by Dr Leahy for the Cathedral in Thurles.
The Cathedral's foundation stone was laid in 1865 and subsequently the Cathedral was consecrated in 1879.
Mary Immaculate College (Thurles campus) is located opposite the Cathedral and in the beautiful church in the College, there are several Harry Clarke windows.

Cathedral church- beautiful soaring space, with graceful arches and symmetrical lines. A local church with the grandeur of a city’s place of worship.

I love Thurles Cathedral. I always feel at home there as it's filled with lots of memories of Happy Occasions. Alas some sad ones also. Saying Goodbye to loved ones. The architecture is outstanding. A great sense of Belonging and pride in our local church.
