Overview
More
A long and pleasant walk along the gorge through breathtaking scenery, past waterfalls, fountains, deserted chapels and monasteries, to an authentic palm beach at Preveli. You can even catch a glimpse of a lammergeier if you are lucky. Watch out though for slips and trips - stout shoes essential.

Wow..... we stopped off here on our Cretan Safari. We had the place to ourselves for a while till a coach load shattered the peace and quiet. It was amazing watching the vultures soaring high above our heads and looking down into the spectacular steep...More

We stopped there on our way to Preveli beach (or so we thought XD). It was quite scary to be honest! All this huge mountains around you as if they can crash you any second. If you go that road, up or down the island,...More

The road changes from fairly open to windy through the gorge rather quickly. Slightly guessing, but I recklon the cliffs each side are well over 1000 feet; there are eagles to be seen soaring high up. There's parking and places to wander but it's not...More

Because one person in our party was injured we didn't want to do a long hike, otherwise we probably would've visited the Imbros gorge. This one though can be reached by car, and with minimal walking around you can enjoy the great sights.

This remains one of the sights to see on Crete and is well worth a visit - not forgetting to drop down to the little chapel and to watch for eagles and, even, lammergeiers.

An amazing gorge frequented by eagles, with views of the coast. Huge rock faces and a river below. A decent road through the gorge, is the main access to Plakias.
