A hidden gem in the Ouachita National Forrest. In a beautiful setting of streams, trees, mountains and valleys is a small man made lake. At the end of a paved road, the lake has a camping area, swimming area, fishing and a large pavilion. We thought it was a beautiful setting and would be a wonderful place to spend some... More

I have been coming to Shady Lake since I was about 12 years old, and being 40ISH now, I must say that this is still one of my favorite places to go camping. It has made a few upgrades throughout the years - like adding electricity and water to a few campsites, but unfortunately it seems as though the improvements... More

I camped at Shady Lake with my wife and 5 year old daughter. What a lovely place! We were in a campsite next to the river that feeds into the lake. We hiked around the lake and enjoyed a couple of very peaceful days. It was mid-March and at night it got chilly for tent camping, probably 35 degrees fahrenheit,... More

Built by the CCC in the 30's. Some 50+ campsites, some with electric and water. Bathhouse with flush toilets and showers. Also outhouses. Small, quiet lake with a fishing pier as swimming area. The park is clean but somewhat neglected.

The facilities are good but could use some updates. The main complaint was that the RV spots are very difficult to get in and out. There were lots of leaves on the... More

The good, it was quiet and secluded the bad the whole place was ran down. No open bathrooms no one staffed there. In short we didn't stay we left. DONT be deceived by the out... More

Looking for a great place to go and relax with the family. This is the place!! My family and I have been vacationing there for the last 12 years. Almost every camp site is right next to a beautiful creek that runs in to the lake. Gorgeous trees surround you all over the place. They have multiple walking trails, ones... More
