Interesting to see the area of the sacrifice and the drainage system used for the blood. Nice views. Great hike.

Glad that we had the energy to manage the steps to see the sacrificial place. Great views from above. If you can only see either this high place or the Monastery, choose the Monastery.
Requires a good amount of physical fitness to visit the site, but its all worth. The view of the overall site is best from the high place of sacrifice, which is usually not visited by many travellers. TIP: the horses won't take you till the...More
This is a place that not many people venture up to. At first the steps are jagged and uneven but soon level out to even steps. Very easy if you don't mind lots of stairs. The view when turning around is totally worth it even...More
Again- grab guide book or brochure or you will have no idea what this place is. Try not to skip this since it is on the way....a good stop

Petra is a massive site, we were only there for a day, but you could spend days here..... we saw this on the way to the Royal Tombs (not quite such a climb as the monastery). Love Petra, trip of a lifetime. Stunning.
Yo do this properly you must do the whole circuit. We did it from the Qasr El Bint (Basin Restaurant) which I think is the best way. It starts just beside the temple. The trail starts gently but then winds its way up through gorges...More
