Spend all day here at least, even if you're not a big walker. We went in happy to hike all day and see as much as possible and we still had to miss some things. Recommend 2 days (or 1 and a half) to see as much as possible at leisure. If you're touring Jordan I highly recommend the Jordan... More

This place has to be the top attractions one can visit across the world. The carvings of the tombs, the temples and the treasury & monastery have to bee seen to be believed.

A must to trip. Has a rich history. The city development at Petra was wonderful to understand and hear about. We did have a guide, who was brilliant. He had a tremendous amount of knowledge, especially on probable trade relations Petra shared with the neighboring regions. A good guide makes all the difference. The Walk - a 16 km walk... More

One of the best places I have ever visited! I was expecting something impressive but it was beyond my expectations! Best part was the siq. Go early in the morning to avoid groups an enjoy your walk. When the tresury reveals itself well... unforgetable. Spent several hours around, visited the momastery, took a thousant pictures and walked around everything. It... More

Impressive entrance through the foreboding canyon walls where flash flood could drown anyone unlucky to be caught within. The Nambataens cleverly diverted the water to giver year round safe passage to the city of Petra. Beautiful but well weather worn carvings on the facade of the Treasury. Walk around the ancient city and climb the steps to view the rest... More

You cannot miss this and need at a minimum a full day to get from entry point to Monastery and look out points beyond. Walking up the hill is slow and exhausting until you get to the top....it's simply amazing. As you walk back you see everything from a different point of view and equally amazing. Photos and words don't... More

This was the highlight of a three week trip to Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. The temples and buildings carved into the rock are awesome. Prepare for a long day with lots of walking. There are carriage rides and mule and camel rides if you are tired. Vendors and sellers are very aggressive. Be sure and go to the monastery. It... More

Petra by day followed by Petra by night. It is an amazing journey back in time. We did not do any research prior to the visit and hired the local tour guide who was really helpful. We were amazed by the Siq or entrance, the water collection system, the amphitheater, the palace and the monastery. Be ready to walk! Petra... More
