The Siq has to be seen to be believed. It's breathtakingly beautiful walking through the gorge which in places is much wider than others. Don't miss the water conduit system while taking in the views so that you can marvel at the engineering feats of...More

Walked the length of the Siq but due to time constraints was unable to detour to other areas of interest. I will come back as you need two days to get through everything.

This place is great. Take your time when walking through and most importantly: If you want to have the place to yourself enter Petra at 6AM when they open. We had 2.5 hours in solitude.

The legendary Siq didn't steal his fame. Walking trough these high rocks is between amazement and mystical feelings. Take your time, analyze the beauty of the rocks and their shapes, observe the messages nabateans left us from the past and be stunned by the Khazneh...More

The temptation to hustle down to the main city of Petra can mean the missing of the most beautiful of city entrances. Take your time and let others race on through.

The entrance to Petra is through a long, narrow, and at times thin eroded pathway through a hill. As one nears the end the "Treasury building" of Petra become visible.

It's a surreal landscape with shades of sand / ochre /red/ orange and many more in between. All movie buffs can identify the exact locations shot in the Indiana Jones film. That however doesn't take away from the natural beauty of the Siq or canyon...More

I advice everybody to walk instead of taking carriages or donkeys, you would want to stop every other 5 minutes and admire the rock formations and colours.

You won't need to be an experienced horse rider because the locals will either walk the horse or ride alongside you. Be careful to very clearly negotiate a price for the ride AND for the tip before you start because some... More
