On AR 21, there is a sign that says that the trailhead of Hawksbill crag is 6.1 miles to the left if traveling north on AR 21. What follows after the low Buffalo River bridge is a six-mile dirt road leading up to the trailhead,...More

Everyone seems to go to Hawksbill Crag when you visit the Buffalo River area. And, there is a good reason why. Tremendous view and incredibly beautiful. The hike to the viewing area is not difficult. But, wear good hiking shoes!

The hike starts about six miles down a somewhat rough dirt road. Recommend taking a vehicle with higher ground clearance or plan on taking it slow. Most cars would probably do fine. I took an SUV. The trailhead does not have facilities. The trailhead itself...More

Attempted to visit this iconic location on our family vacation to the Ozarks. As previously noted by another reviewer, the "road" is unmarked, dirt/gravel, narrow, and very steep. We didn't even make it a minute before we gave up and managed a difficult 3-point-turnaround to...More

Great views from multiple locations; nice hike, not too strenuous and a nice little side cave and waterfall we weren't aware of until we started the hike. Road to get to trailhead pretty rough. Definitely worth the visit.

What a view! Definitely watch your step here. The hike out isn't bad, and there are plenty of chances to see our over the cliffs. Bring your camera for sure!

You don't have to have a four wheel drive but it would not hurt. We went the day after a rain and the road was solid though rough and traversed it in an Expedition without it. There was only one squishy place which we got...More

Hawksbill Crag requires a 2.8 to 3 mile roundtrip hike through trees, across creeks, and down one really steep bank. There are no level spots, so your ankles and calves will remind you the next day of the uphill and downhill walking on uneven terrain....More

Loved the hike and the views toward the end. Neat rock formations along the way. There are a few little streams we crossed over since there had been lots of rain. Seemed very busy for a Friday at late morning. Passed a group of people...More
