About
Pieck inspireert, sprookjes herleven, nostalgie ontwaakt.

Nice small museum
Nov 2020
Lovely small museum dedicated to this artist who didn't achieve world wide fame, but is very famous in Holland. The museum has a good collection of Anton's paintings and gives a lt of information about his life and work. Many people are not aware of the fact that Anton Pieck has designed the fairy forest at the Efteling, a theme park in the south of Holland. A visit to this museum will take you 1-2 hours.

Accomplished artist and imaginative illustrator

Anton Pieck was a many-faceted artist. He travelled through Europe and Morocco and drew along the way, capturing castles, landscapes and townspeople in great detail. He painted in small and large format. He illustrated a number of books, especially books for children. He is perhaps best known for his whimsical prints. His printmaking equipment is on display in this small but fascinating museum. His drawings, paintings and prints cover the walls of the two stories and basement of the traditional Dutch home that houses the museum. If you visit Hattem, do not miss this museum!

Pieck fans will love it

If you don't know who Anton Pieck is, you may not find this museum, or end up here. If you do, then you will enjoy the setup, showing how he worked, with ample displays of his work. The connected buildings and other artists are also interesting. The village of Hattem even looks like the setting of his art, although perhaps more so on a fall day

I did not know Anton Pieck before but when I saw his work (I am German so not that well-educated about Dutch painters), I was really stunned. They were awesome! It seemed that his paintings where a scene from a children's movie. The staff was nice and welcoming. I bought some postcards and a bigger picture because I have never seen the pictures anywhere else to buy yet.

The Anton Pieck - style is unique - I do not know an other painter who had such great successes as this man.
Nice examples of his artwork - his workplace and his press are shown here.
Also an interview is shown - just in Dutch...

Pleasant museum in an old house which has been sympathetically converted. Displays of illustrations by Anton Pieck, another local artist and a touring exhibition. We really liked Hattem which, unusually for parts of The Netherlands that we visited, has an excellent tourist office.

Pay one gets two

The second time in Hattem, I got to visit this museum again. The romantic style of his work makes your memory back in time. It begins by the fairy-tale court, the entrance of the museum. At the ground floor and the basement are the work of Anton Pieck himself and at the attic is the work of other painter with a similar style. The museum self is well organized. Once a month there is a "etching" workshop for the school children. You can also enjoy a cup of coffee by the reception. When you finish visiting this museum, you may visiting the Voerman museum too. So, you get two museums for your 7.50 euros.
