Attended a Wedding here Last Weekend! Very Rustic Venue, The Whole Venue from the Outside looks like an Old Pub on the Main Street, but What lies behind is a Hidden Gem of the Midlands.

The Venue Boasts a Converted Barn which forms a Small Church in the back Corner of the Venue which can hold about 100 People. There is Cool little Beer Garden in just outside the Main Dinner Seating area which On a warm day would be amazing for a Prosseco Reception. Unfortunately Mother Nature meant it was Baltic and unfortunately the Heating in the Bar didn't seem to be working.

When we got in the Dining hall the Food was to Die For, Started off with a very Tasty Bruschetta followed by a Selection of Beef, Chicken, and Ham, served with the creamiest Dauphinoise Potatoes I've ever tasted! Desert again was a trio of Bannoffee Pie, Lemon Merigue, and Apple Pie, a Nice way to Round out the meal!

Big Shoutout to Jamie behind the bar who kept us well oiled all Night! A Great Man!

I loved the feeling of the old fashioned afternoon tea, with matching cups and saucers and teapots. I was there for lunch and everything was fresh and homemade and very tasty.

If there's a hen who loves arts and crafts then I would definitely recommend The Grocery. Peter was an absolute dream and advised us where to stay and eat etc which was fantastic as we had never been to Tyrrellspass and needed a bit of help! Beautiful lunch in the cafe upstairs followed by decoupage in the wonderfully restored barn at the back, had a great time, lovely and relaxed - and we had tea, coffee and home-made buns half-way through the activity! Nothing was too much and Peter was a star, very helpful and organised and everything ran smoothly. I would 100% recommend to anyone.

This is a lovely little place in the lovely village of tyrrellspass . The staff are really nice and I love the simple wholesome touch about the place. It seams a work in progress and the barn outside is really cool. I had the homemade quiche and salad and it was yummy. And had a little look around-- I think it will be lovely in summer for parties or other events in the yard--- or barn,,

Thank you for your lovely review! It is always nice to get feed back. You seem to really appreciate what we do and as you correctly observed what the future plans are about. The Barn is our craft venue/ function room which was completed last year and is a big hit, and you are right we have more exciting additions to The Grocery in progress! We hope to see you again and glad you enjoyed the experience!

I couldn't recommend the grocery highly enough. I've visited twice and enjoyed it on both occasions. Food was delicious, staff were so friendly and accommodating and it just had an overall homely feel. Picked up some quirky little gifts also which were lovely.

Attended a wedding reception here last Saturday night & all I can say is WOW!!!!
This place needs to be talked about far & wide, set in the middle of Tyrrellspass village in Co. Westmeath is undoubtedly a hidden gem, what you think is a grocery & pub from the main street is soooo much more behind it. As you take the the side entrance into a beautiful courtyard & onward to a function room & seating area covered by a massive canopy which leads to a chapel in the very corner of the garden.

The wedding of Tomas & Niamh was a fantastic evening with thanks to David Smyth Catering & his team for all the catering & beverage supplies, service was seamless & a credit to this venue. Will definitely be recommending this to people

Found this hidden gem by accident today on our way from Limerick to Carrickmacross. Food was home cooked and excellent and so reasonable, coffee brilliant too and served with a smile in beautiful cups! Wished we lived closer, but we will definitely be back!
