Lake Chicot is an oxbow lake which eventually separated from the Mississippi River. I went on a family trip to Lake Chicot State Park. We went boating through the beautiful cypress. You can easily rent a kayak or a boat. We stayed in a large and comfortable cabin, where we had everything we needed to cook. We walked on the... More

We have stayed here since I was little. We have always enjoyed the place. The campgrounds are nice, they have electricity and water, there are also sites along the lake that are beautiful and those have sewage hook up, but those sites are more for RVs and not tents. The cabins are nice and reasonably priced, the 1 bedroom cabins... More

The website looked like all the cabins were booked up when I tried several times to schedule, so I assumed they were busy and all booked up. I should have tried calling as that might have yielded different results. I drove by to see the park and there were very few people staying there. I see recent reviews so apparently... More

Forgot how hot it can be in July (a plus since large watermelons were in season and easy find. Cabin was nice with a few rough spots (screen in the screen door cut, a few burners on the stove that didn't work, a few dead light bulbs) but fine otherwise. We had a cabin with two bedrooms which worked for... More

We went off the beaten path to find this state park to get out and stretch our legs a bit from a long road trip. The Visitor Center was closed already, but there was still enough daylight for us to check out the park and for my boys to run around. There's a nice swimming pool that was also closed... More

We love the state park. It's out of town so you really get that camping vibe. There's activities for young children, bikes to rent, boats to rent, kayaks to rent, etc. We have our family reunion there every year and we love it!

Well maintained grounds...good shade. Bathrooms need some repairs/upgrades. Nice store and boat launch. Cabins right on the lake and tent spots have good shade for hot days.

Camped 3 nights here in our rv at stopover on trip from Louisiana to Georgia. We had a very spacious paved waterview site with a nice picnic table, lantern post, fire ring, and conveniently placed full hookups. The bath house and laundry are showing their age, but were spotlessly clean. Off season so the pool and interpretive programs were not... More

My mother and I camped here for one night on our way to Mississippi. I took time off from work so we could take a trip together. The lake is stunning! It is so much more beautiful than we imagined. We camped on a Monday, and the park was nearly deserted, although it has 124 campsites. Since we were in... More

I wasn't very impressed with the park itself. The lake is beautiful, but that's about the only thing that I really enjoyed. I was just not comfortable with the surrounding area and it just felt a little spooky. I guess a lot of it had to do with a handful of people that I saw that I felt were a... More
