It said in the guide book that this was worth 'half a day'. I didn't want to leave at all having spent all day there. What the visitor has to realise is that the founder, seing the way things wre going even in the 1940s, has preserved species which are indiginous to this Mexican state only. So don't expect giraffes... More

This is one of the best zoos I've attended. Exhibitions centralize on the local Chiapas fauna. Setting is gorgeous and animals roam free in their exhibit space. Some of the them such as deer, monkey and guaqueques (rodent type mammals) roam free. Great for kids and cost is only 10 pesos! A no miss if you go to Tuxtla

This was our second visit to Tuxtla Zoo and is a great place to spend a few hours wandering around the shaded paths. There are numerous animals to see and the Zoo appears well maintained. Entry costs are low and is perfect for the whole family. There are a number of places to purchase food or you can take your... More

We took our children to this zoo on a very hot summer day and it was a great experience!. The dense foliage provides relief from the Chiapas heat as well as creating a tropical oasis in the middle of a huge city. I really forgot that I was in an urban center while visiting this zoo. We come from San... More

What i like most about this Zoo is walking in the shadow of the great vegetation we found there. The Zoo is a nice place to visit only if you have enough time on your trip. A Zoo is a zoo even tough the particularity of this one is that they only have animals from Chiapas. It's not a big... More

The one spot in tropical Tuxtla that is always refreshing is the ZOOMAT. Dense foliage above from enormous old trees, and many little streams, ponds and waterfalls around the paths, provide a delightfully cool microclimate. In addition to all the featured animals of Chiapas in their enclosures, a myriad of wild animals: deer, howler monkeys, great curassow birds (like wild... More

Nice walk through wooded area. We enjoyed it a lot. Good size, you can see it in a couple of hours, small stores through out, clean restrooms

Most animals (all are indigenous to Chiapas) housed in as close to natural habitat as possible for the space and appear well cared for. Very cheap admission and a nice stroll through shady grounds with hills, streams, etc.- very pretty setting. Food and beverages are available.

Really nice scenery, had a very relaxed atmosphere and was really clean. You could tell that the animals and the place was really looked after well. Worth a visit!
