The landscape of stone cliff with trees was beautiful. Even we can only see THE scenery from distance in a small traditional cafe.

Toraja land is very unique place and I am very happy that we have decided to stay 4 days. We explored the lovely scenery, lush rice fields, were in awe when we saw the unique boat shaped houses- Tangkonans and rice barn. The local people have very strong family bonds and traditions that have not changed much over the years.... More

We went to Tana Toraja in december 2016 and stayed in Misiliana hotel. The hotel is quite clean but noisy ( bad sound isolation) and more suitable for groups then individual travellers. There is a huge breakfast buffet and there are two pools. It is quite far to walk from the hotel to a restaurant outside of the hotel, because... More

been here twice in a 20 year period and little has changed. Feels like the time stood still here. Enjoyed my second visit as much as the first encounter with Toraga. Nice and friendly people. Recommend.

Spent a week here and did most of the tourist stuff, which was real interesting. Spent several days on a scooter, driving around taking pictures and loved it. The local market is a highlight by itself, just walking around and trying to understand the culture is great, and gives great pictures

Using either a hotel or home stay exprience as a base the ideal place to base a stay to visit toraja Land is Rantepo. Withi an hour's drive the is a multitude of choices providing lofty mountains vistas and inexpensive places to eat in the Rantepo town centre there.

We visited Tana Toraja in September 2016 and it was excellent. We found positive reviews of a guide called Arru here on Tripadvisor and contacted him one week before our arrival in Makassar. Arru picked us up with a very good driver and a comfortable, new car (Toyota Innova) in Makassar. The drive up to Tana Toraja took about 8... More
