Try to start as soon as the park opens. We were told that the park only opens now at 3am (read from previous travellers that it opens at 1am, so unsure if our guide was being truthful or not). Took us 2 hours to get to the top but the sun had risen a bit by then and we missed... More

Our guide came to pick us up at midnight, and we reached the starting point about 0045h to begin our way up around 0100h. It's very cooling, and you'll need a jacket. You'll also need a face mask too, to prevent sniffing in too much sulfur. We reached the top of the crater before 0400 and make our way down... More

Usually the hike starts about 1-3am and you will reach the peak at about 4.30am. However it is very dependent on the weather. We were very lucky to have an awesome sunrise view at the crater. I'll let pictures do the work

The hike was 3 km up and the slope was tiring to walk but its doable and was definitely worth the view. We could not walk down the crater (for blue flame) after the top view as it was closed for tourist during our visit but i feel it was still worth to hike just to see the blue water... More

After 3 km of steep hike from the parking, you arrive at the crater. It's really spectacular. When we went there, the level of activity of the sulfur coming out of the ground was very high, so it was forbidden to walk down into the crater. If you are lucky, you can see very clearly the sulfur coming out even... More
